Mid Tower cases for a 4090

Recommended Posts

I’m looking for recommendations for a mid size case that can accommodate a 4090. Full size is not possible because of space constraints.

Preferred make is Fractal Design but others will be considered.

I should also add I’m not interested in flashing LEDs or other lighting features.

Please include the make of your GPU since the length varies.

Useful video on the problems facing prospective 4090 customers…

I did consider the 16Gb 4080 but apparently that’s even bulkier. 😳

This is a useful site for card dimensions.

And the specs of the mid tower Fractal Design Meshify 2 suggest it can accommodate most 4090s.

If you take a look at the case, almost the full width of the case is available to accommodate the graphics card.
According to the internet, the 4090 is 304 mm x 137 mm x 61 mm.
I have a 3080ti, which is 285 mm x 112 mm x 40 mm
The 4090 is therefore 19mm longer and according to my tape measure, there is another 80 mm available.

This case definitely accommodates it. Meshify 2 — Fractal Design (fractal-design.com)
It is one of the cases that Scan use.

The Meshify 2 is my preferred case so far. Whilst I agree it can accommodate the 3090 you have to be careful about the combination of case and card. The Asus Strix is 2" longer than the Nvidia FE which is going to be the one I'll request from Chillblast.

I run 3 Phanteks Eclipse P600S. Holds a 30 or 40 series card with no problems. System specs below show what I have in mine. I comes with removable close out panels on the front and top.

I run the Fractal Torrent Compact with a 4080 FE without any conflicts. I'm able use the Torrent's standard 180mm fans on front with comfortable clearance to spare. No issues on side clearance either with regards to recommended cord bend and closing the side panel. I believe the 4080 and 4090 FE are the exact same dimensions. I specifically went with the FE because it met the limited allowable GPU dimensions in the case without ditching the front 180mm fans. The GPU temps are fantastic, almost never above 55c under load. If you're planning to use air for CPU cooling, highly recommend the Torrent.

I was in the same situation as you. I was considering Fractal Designs torrent compact, Lian Li Lancool 216 and the NZXT H7 Flow.

Each has its pro’s and con’s. I ended up going with the NZXT H7 Flow for its simplicity and it checked all the boxes also no RGB. The Lian Li Lancool 216 was a close second.

NZXT H7 Flow

• max GPU length 400mm

Lancool 216

• max GPU length 392mm

@Samaritano, Chillblast don’t list either of those. They show the Fractal Meshify 2 as the “ultimate “ option.
