Asobo ATR-72. Real Or Imaginary?

Recommended Posts

Nothing is stopping Black Bird from making a study level ATR but themselves. Fenix made bank on their plane even when we had the FBWA320 that was shaping up nicely at the time. The market is big enough for us to dish out $12.99 in the meantime for something decent while we wait for them to make something with all the little switches and systems recreated with the highest of detail.

Exactly. Even with P3D Milviz had a tradition of unfinished projects, which they have ported over to MSFS. And instead of focusing on one or two projects, they just keep adding on. They have no less than 11 (!) aircraft in development for MSFS right now. How many of these will actually be completed?

And regarding the ATR cancellation, Milviz themselves admitted they had decided to rebuild the model halfway through development, which would add another 4-6 months. Is that Asobo's fault too?

And something that is often overlooked - they were not even designing the same aircraft - Milviz was working on the earlier -500 variant, while Hans was doing the -600.

Asobo killed the Milviz ATR? There was not enough room for both? Nope. Milviz just saw this as a convenient excuse to cancel their project which, more than anything else, was a victim of their own poor planning and execution.

regis9 you have a rather robust system, do you find turning on terrain display and/or synthetic vision display affects frame rate?

Seeing 10%-15% less FPS.

To be fair, they only paused development pending the outcome of the MS ATR.  However, now that it’s out and falls well short of “study level” we’ll see if they stick to their story.

You're 100% right. Can't put it better myself.

Answer:  Real. Very real. Have been flying it all day using the Asobo tutorials but just as importantly the early tutorials by Jonathan Beckett were a game changer for me.

Don’t believe all the negative news. It’s #FakeNews. The plane is real, flies quite well and is full of lots of little surprises and nuances.

Where can I found that Asobo tutorials ?

Thanks

Need to use „Toggle switch feather 1 & 2“ for that. It‘s a seperate button so people dont accidentally turn off the propellers with the axis mid-flight,

Been trying all possible combinations with buttons and keys and so on but the condition levers won't stay at FUEL SO. Could you maybe share your settings? I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks.

Well just make empty new profiles for your controllers and see if it's still the case (it's always some sort of bad mapping).

Delete all axis bindings for propellers.
I got none of them, so I only use the mouse for the condition levers

I ended up using my Airbus throttle quadrant instead of my TQ6 and it’s working well.  The throttle detents are handy, the flap lever works and I’m just manipulating the condition levers with my mouse.  Not a huge deal because they spend most of their time in auto anyway.  I’d be less inclined to do so if inflight changes were needed.

Another question: how do I activate Terrain and/or Weather in the second display? I couldn't figure that out myself.

TERR: DISPLAY 2 in ND Mode -> MCDU left side click "NAV" -> on ND click ND OVLY (Overlay) --> on the right side you see WX/TERR

WX: under Display 3 center console RADAR knob -> turn completely right for TEST then back to WX --> on ND (look above as explained)
