April 27, 20233 yr Been watching 737NG Driver's videos and he's also very positive about this ATRs, and showing the pluses and how nice it can be. 737NG Driver: ATR 72 & 42 Tutorial 3: Final Cockpit Preparation and HOTEL MODE | Real Airline Pilot - YouTube Easyjetsimpilot likes it too! Looks like some youtubers with even less than minimum knowledge about how to operate this type started firing at the release... But why? Agenda? Well... time will tell, but from the watching, I am even tempted to try it too 🙂 Long goes the time I last used an ATR in flightsim .... I'll have to buy MFS a 2nd time 🙂 Nothing inedit ( I bought FSX 5 times 🙂, XP11 3 times and P3D in monthly licensing several times too, Airlinetools A32x twice, DCS ... ) The Agenda is my Agenda - Uninstall !! Its been so long since we’ve had a well simulated ATR in the MSFS/P3D/FSX ecosystem (not sure about x-plane) that anyone trying to jump in and rush a flight relying on their experience with other airliners is bound to run into issues. It’s unfortunate that this aircraft got such initial poor feedback which I’m convinced largely comes down to lack of familiarity and experience with the ATR. I’m excited to learn something new. April 27, 20233 yr Familiarity really helps. I'm used to flying the 72-500 from FS9 and FSX. If you know that you are halfway there. VNAV capabilities have greatly improved in the 600. On my first flights I didn't even realize that I could use it for climbs as well and had done it the IAS 170 way I was used to. Now I know I can set the speed to FMC calculated and just let the aircraft do it on its own. So convenient. Especially in the transition from TO to Climb Edited April 27, 20233 yr by Farlis

It let a groundswell of bad opinions build up on the first day because people were getting frustrated or thought it wasn't functioning right. Things are getting more positive now it is better understood, and hopefully with a few fixes from the developer, it can pull it back into a generally positive stance. I notice some people are complaining about a lack of a cargo version as well - not sure if it as promised or due? A lot of the discontent grows because communication and feedback is poor. Surely someone could answer the Cargo version question in a matter of minutes on the official forums if they wanted to. April 27, 20233 yr It apparently killed the Milviz bird. Next up: a mediocre A350 "flies well enough" release. Say goodby to an advanced version. Be careful what you wish for....

Be careful what you wish for.... Disagree. I own almost every Milviz product published. P3d and now MSFS. I liked the planes they made but was never impressed with speed of development and overall quality. I am very glad for this quite well functioning ATR. Milviz can miss the next Golden Ring on the Carrousel I guess. -B Edited April 27, 20233 yr by btacon

April 27, 20233 yr The content creators I try and follow are folks who are generally upbeat and positive on their channels. They'll call out a turkey of an addon, but they also don't post "I wasted my $15 so you don't have to." As someone who is trying to get their YouTube channel going, I get the need to post something while interest is hot. However, in this case, the hot takes fade fast and it's better to have a measured, reasonable video a few days after.
April 27, 20233 yr Could someone please confirm: 1) The ATR is only available from the Marketplace? 2) In the simobjects folder are the cfg files encrypted or will they open in notepad? Thanks! Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
April 27, 20233 yr Yes, the ATR is only available from the Marketplace and yes, the crucial .cfg files are indeed encrypted.

Be careful what you wish for.... Milviz also announced that ATR back in 2018 or 2019, and showed virtually no progress for P3D for years, before fading away and going radio silent. At the time of cancellation, I believe all we had were some renders, and the cancel was the first news on the project for months. I had always expected it to be vaporware, all of the delays for P3D and lack of updates gave the sense that the project just wasn't advancing. I just don't think it's fair to compare a plane in-hand to one that might never have been released. Edited April 27, 20233 yr by mspencer
