Using N.V. Freestyle filters + DX12 and had to use 5.31.29 till today because of CTD’s when loading.

So I am curious if anyone had tried these drivers + NV Freestyle filters …

Freestyle filters still cause CTD. It’s a known issue, even in 535.98.

For anybody having issues with Freestyle filters, there is a workaround for that.

Temporarily disable the filters (you can use a shortcut key - toggle filters on./off in GFE settings) whenever you are.

1. Switching from full screen to windowed mode and vice versa
2. Whenever you are going into the menu to change settings

Also, make sure that the filters are off when you are initially loading the game.

Only turn the filters on when you are flying.

( i get the " your graphics card has encountered an error)

I use the 528.49 drivers from Feb. Works fine.

Are you able to activate your filters inside GeForce Experience? I'm also currently using 531.29 with a 4090 and GeForce Experience tells me that my graphics card isn't compatible, so I cannot enable the In-Game Overlay. Only if I either downgrade to 528.49 or use a driver more recent than 531.29, the option to use the overlay becomes available.

Glad there's ReShade to avoid Freestyle, sounds like a headache.

No issues to have it working.

First load your flight. Then go into Fullscreen mode (not Windows mode). With Alt + F3 you bring up the filter menu. Make your changes . Click Ready at the bottom.

Now each time you start up MSFS, being it in Windows or Fullscreen mode the filters are automatically being applied.

Using 40 series GPU’s on both my MSFS pc’s.

My problem is that I cannot get the overlay to work in 531.29. This is what I see inside GeForce Experience. If I use any of the later drivers, the overlay works ok.

Could you please clarify which version of ReShade you are referring to and if there are any tutorials available? I have attempted to use it before, but have not had any success.

All of them, the latest. Though if you're using the awful Store version is becomes a bit of a faff to use.

You're right, OP seems to have added that line on his own because that isn't mentioned in the official release notes at all

So it looks like the OP notes are wrong, in these notes you just posted also says the issue with the filters is fixed, in the OP notes says it's still an open issue. Now I'm lost.

Hmm, just checked the original thread he linked from and there the notes do seem to mirror what he posted. Hmm, no idea at this point.

The OP's quote mentioning the MSFS DX12 random crash fix, but saying the GE freestyle crashes were still an issue, was from Nvidia's 535.98 problem feedback thread here:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/519777/geforce-grd-53598-feedback-thread-released-53023/

The note mentioning that the GE freestyle crashes were fixed, but not mentioning the MSFS DX12 crashes at all, was from the Nvidia 535.98 download page here:

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/205173/en-us/

So maybe Nvidia themselves are confused about what 535.98 fixes or doesn't fix. Oh well, downloaded and installed, and so far no particular problems have popped up in DX12. But I haven't done much flying yet.
