Not sure why you'd be missing contrails, lights etc.

I can think of Bloom. With that off, a lot of AI traffic (and multiplayer) lights appear to be fairly dim.

As for contrails. That's odd. Again, what are your settings?

Thanks, here are my settings are below. Bloom is on.

I definitely had AI lights working fine a while back, but as mentioned never any contrails.

It seems you may have a problem with your fs-base-effects-legacy folder. I think that's where the lights and contrails for default AI aircraft are. Can you check what you have in that folder?

That's what I have too. Did you make sure the files all have the .fx extension? None of them have the extension renamed to off or something?

Edit: I mean the files in the effects folder, not the other folders.

Curious if the traffic settings in the sim have anything to do with it? Ultra vs off etc. Maybe the models are correctly working? Do you have any other traffic mods or liveries. Your settings are better than mine haha

The files in the fs-base-effects-legacy folders look to be OK, with no weird names/extensions.

Bloom can definitely amp up the effect of the nav lights at a distance when they are there.

But if you are stupid enough to set both to the maximal possible setting, numbers can still simply not be compared due to the fact that FSLTL also injects "static" aircraft to fill up gates on airports.

Or, just to underline the idiocracy of this number-comparison: if you set FSLTL to show only 50 planes, AIG with a setting of 100 planes to be shown will actually show... more planes. BUT, if you set FSLTL up to show 100 planes while AIG to show only 50, guess what? AIG will show less planes...

 Did you try with all mods disabled except for Simple Traffic to exclude the possibility of a mod causing the issue?

Status after some troubleshooting and switching settings on and off or back and forth.

AI lights are back 🙂 and seem to be consistent for Real Time traffic!

Noticed that lights are typically visible from around 10 NM (and more so with Bloom on). It seems you can see city lights much further away?

With Little Navmap I noticed that part of the Real Time traffic is spawning and un-spawning all the time... They spawn, get an instruction from ATC and disappear 😁 Guess that part of MSFS is (also) a bit unstable.

With AI Offline the display of AI lights is a lot more hit and miss. Some planes remain completely black...

Regarding contrails, still no luck whatsoever. I went hunting for airliners with the drone and did not see contrails from any of them.

Will try disabling some mods as suggested to see if that works better.

Now that you mention...I noticed that AI traffic disappears as well but with general aviation. Not really airliners. And yes, knowing which type of traffic program you have is helpful.

I tried again with FSLTL (with a general aviation traffic mod) and noticed that some don't show their lights. For me, airliners don't have this problem with the lights. However, most the airliners show contrails for me. I used FSLTL and AIG at different times. Odd.

Glad you got some of this sorted out.
