Meta Quest 3

Featured Replies

479 pounds in the UK. VrFlightsimGuy says: No led it an LCD panel, not fresnel like the Quest 2 and Reverb G2 but pancake lenses, no local dimming (like the Pro has) but 2064 by 2208 (a strange pixel count). He said the lenses are better than the Varjo Aero.

He said the Quest Pro had the best lenses he had ever seen (he has used all the various headsets) and these are even better.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Interesting, I think I'll try this out, decent price.

Just pre-ordered this in the UK now. Was £479.99 for their 128GB version. Coming Wednesday October 11th. Let see how it is.

The high resolution camera passthrough of Quest 3 can be really useful for flying MSFS VR while also operating instruments. I'm really tempted, at $499 it's a perfect small upgrade for my G2 for the moment. Does Quest 3 also require base station though?

I hope not, I do not think that it does?

I just checked, Quest 3 is inside out tracking, so should be no base stations. Man, now I can barely hold myself from clicking the pre-order. I'll wait for the reviews, just to be prudent..

I'll remain on the sidelines on this one as I've vowed to have nothing to do with Meta in any form.

I hear rumblings of a possible new VR headset from Steam and the dramatic price drop of the Varjo has me wondering if they have some new hotness in the pipeline.

Just had to purchase a link cable for £90 as I didn't realise I also needed one of those. Let's see if this is a step up from the G2 I last used over 2 years ago.

Does it have a displayport connection? Without that it will be trash for flightsim

I'm real sure the Quest 3 will have better image resolution than the G2. And it is lighter than the Quest 2. Color pass thru is great idea. I just don't know about the frame rates because the link cable is probably USB instead of Display Port like on the Reverb G2. (The Reverb had better fps than the Quest 2, On the other hand the Oculus/Meta Riva had better fps than either.

How come? It's a USB-C cable, so should be very fast.

Its not just the speed, you just wont get good clarity without it.  Ive tried with the quest 2, had to return it as image quality was a huge downgrade from the g2 even with the superior lenses.

Specs-wise, very similar to Pico 4.
