MoAppCrash in MSFS with SU13

Featured Replies

Okay, I have conducted two flights in MSFS since updating to SU13, one last night and one tonight. In both cases, MSFS crashed to desktop mid-flight after about two hours of flying. In Event Viewer, the fault was listed as MoAppCrash. Before SU13, I have not had a CTD of any kind in many months, and even then it was rare. I have done a Windows diagnostics and system scan/restore, but it made no difference. I don't have any new addons installed or any new freeware. In fact, I am running very little freeware, just FSLTL and the mamudesign marinas freeware. I have also updated my FSLTL to the latest as of tonight, but this crash happened last night before I updated FSLTL. MSFS has been VERY stable for me, so this is a head scratcher.

Anyone have any insight as to what MoApp is or why it is causing my MSFS to crash?

Try the same flight with a different plane and no FSLTL. It could possibly be loading too many objects, too.  Simulators are silly but we often have a lot of addons that could conflict with each other or have trouble loading. Try with no traffic from FSLTL first.

Are you using Rex Accuseason Enhanced?

Do you have a software called Capture One installed?

Moapp crashes used to happen to some people in FSX (FSUIPC was being used by 2 different apps. You had to tell FSX to trust the .dll files of those apps. I don't know how to do that in MSFS (how to tell MSFS to trust a .dll).

This, I am doing right now. Will report back later on results.

YES, I am using Accuseason Advanced (same as Enhanced I presume). Was a regular Accuseason user before and this never happened.

NO, I do not, nor have I ever had any capture software of any kind installed, to include Capture One.

Thanks for all the assistance thus far everyone 🙂 I am about to conduct the same flight now without FSLTL and a different plane to see if that makes a difference. Although, the two previous flights I was doing and had this same CTD were in completely different aircraft. But, we shall see what happens on this latest flight.

I just find that the overwhelming majority of crash to desktop (especially mid light or on final....the worse) are caused by mods or traffic programs. Unfortunately, most simulators, especially with MSFS that is still relatively new is dealing with optimization. SU13 seemed to have helped with some.

I would normally agree with that thought. However, I don't run but maybe one mod at any given time (which I have disabled right now for troubleshooting). As for traffic, I either use FS Traffic OR FSLTL. Not an AIG user, nor have I ever been. I am conducting a flight right now without FSLTL so we will see what happens. I just don't normally have CTD's. My flights in MSFS have been extremely clean in crash free in the past, so this current CTD issue has me very curious. The investigation is continuing...

It is frustrating as when I was diagnosing CTD's I'd have everything completely removed (not using addon linker) and still have a crash. Asobo/MS needs to have a viable crash log that actually produces substance instead of vague fault id's that are very ambiguous.

Example: it's often said to not OC anything while running the sim. So I stopped even though my 8086k can naturally boost to 4.9 or 5.    I left it alone with no xmp or natural bios profile. Still had crashes.

For the last few months I boosted the CPU, GPU and RAM (using XMP in bios) and had no issues.

Yes, frustrating indeed. I don't even have my CPU overclocked because it's a 7800X3D (they are locked). I did just complete a successful flight without a CTD, in the Fenix using GSX, Accuseason Advanced and FS Traffic. So now, I am going to try another flight with the PMDG 737 and FSLTL and see what happens.

In the Windows search function, type in Event Viewer and you will see it.

I get ya. I have already completed one long flight with everything (3rd party apps) from KMIA to KSEA with the PMDG 739, including AIG traffic, GA traffic mod and multiplayer. I know crazy. I wanted to see. It did everything. Now I am trying my luck from KJFK to KBOI in the same plane, same settings. I think the Chicago area (with DD scenery and airports) might cause some issues. That area is notorious for CTD's. Getting some stutters every now and then though. Really annoying.

I know its taxing and silly to have AIG traffic (25%), GA traffic at 10% and multiplayer but sometimes I love hearing "TRAFFIC TRAFFIC" to keep things spicy.

See now, that is one area where I have never had any problems, even though I know many other simmers have had them. And I have the DD scenery there too. Go figure 🙃
