October 8, 20232 yr For anyone who has a decent 6000 series AMD card Frame generation is now available with their latest tech preview driver. Testing with MSFS at the moment and its working very nicely. I bet paired with a 5800x3d an end user should see strong performance. Definitely changes the upgrade equation for me now.. No new system for me until late next year for MS2024. It would be nice for it to be included in the next service update but im not holding my breath and this driver based implementation seems to be doing the job. So i did a test flight from KJFK to CYUL in the Fenix and results were mixed.. high but very variable fps and very bad stuttering on final. Unusable. Then i started to tinker with the fine tuning. I turned on Freesync/VRR I turned off the driver anti lag.. It only added overhead for me. I turned on the in sim Vsync (Cant use radeon chill or driver based vsync while Frame gen is enabled so this was the workaround to lock the frames) and selected the 50% refresh rate option in order to free up more overhead. My ultrawide refresh rate is 100fps so the 50% option works nicely since i usually lock it at 50fps under normal conditions anyway Dramatic improvement with more reasonable frame pacing since resources aren't maxed out and some limits are implemented. I don't need 100fps but i need 40-60 evenly paced frames while landing at high resource airports.. It appears i'm able to get this with some fine tuning so its a keeper for me. Glad i waited for AMD to come through. They don't get much praise around these parts but their 6000 series has been a very good option for folks at 1440p and below AMD Ryzen 9800X3D/ Asus ROG Strix B650E F Gaming WiFi / Asrock Taichi 9070XT / 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000 / 2x ADATA XPG 8200 Pro NVME / Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 / Seasonic Vertex 1000w PSU / Lian Li LanCool II Mesh Performance / Asus VG34VQL3A / Topping E70 Velvet DAC & L70 Amp /Sennheiser HD660s2 Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke + TCA Sidestick + TFRP Rudders
October 8, 20232 yr how can fluid frame work when you have Vsync enabled,It will not let me, and AMD also says no Vsync and HDR yet. huh bullock, it does work, no more tearing!! October 8, 20232 yr Just installed for my RX 6800....haven’t tried in MSFS yet but my XP12 flight around Seattle sure seemed smoother. Eager to try in MSFS later after dinner.

October 9, 20232 yr Well, that was an incredibly stupid thing to do. Now, no matter what settings I use MSFS is stuttering like no tomorrow and the silly GPU cooling fans are going 100 MPH. And the thing has shut down (entire computer) several times. WHY do I tweak things that work OK? (Facepalm)

Increased gpu utilization is actually a good thing to have in this sim. Now....a disaster...even the menu screen is making the GPU fans scream, regardless of resolution. my 6800 XT and 10900K should be able to run smoothly as they have for 3 years...will just need to reinstall game or drivers or something.

Just uninstall the tech preview driver and reinstall your previous driver. The sim should be fine. Hopefully the in game implementation (If or when it arrives) is more amenable to your taste.
