I don’t believe CTD is caused by windows. Unless you don’t keep up with windows updates .

Much appreciated SD!  I just got home again and as soon as I can I'll look, I do think I use the rolling cache.

Yeah, looking through this thread it seems as though some steps are missing.

EVERYTHING that you bought/freeware etc MUST be removed before anything else is done. You said you removed everything from your community folder and still had a CTD?

What plane? Did you try other other locations? Did you delete anything from the marketplace? Do you run traffic? You're giving us little details here. Seeing your past comments on other threads you had FSLTL running and questioned whether or not it was causing CTDs. Again, are you running ANY third part addons of any kind. FSUIPC? ATC programs? FSrealistic etc. Navigraph?   Third party planes must be ruled as well. Even if you don't actively fly them.

There is little-to-no need to reinstall a simulator. From what I am reading, we still need to help before nuking the sim.

Yes, everything was removed from the Community folder.

Yes still had a CTD.

The default Pitts and default 208B.

Locations - KSEA, PAHO, KTPA, PANC.

I run FS Traffic not FSLTL but since it was out of the Community folder it didn't run.

FSUIPC is not on my PC at all.

No ATC whatsoever, never used one.

No FSrealistic.

Yes to Navigraph but again, it was removed from the community folder and it was not shown running in the taskbar.

All third party planes were removed with the empty Community folder.

Ok, news, good news with one caveat.

I deleted the Rolling Cache.

Then spawned the default Pitts at PANC and it worked!

Then spawned it at KSEA - OK!

But when I spawned it at PAHO it CTD'd.

I reran MSFS and went back to PAHO and it was OK.

KTPA - Pitts - OK

PATK - Pitts - OK

I dragged the A2A Cherokee into the Community folder along with the liveries and spawned at PANC - OK

PAHO - A2A - OK!

So what do you think?  I had one CTD, could that be because the rolling cache was being rebuilt or do you think I still have a problem?

Also, I very much appreciate your help.

Based on your scenario, it sounds like a scenery issue of some sort, since you're CTDing at PANC and other locations across multiple aircraft.

Something you could also try: clear out the scenery index caches and let the sim rebuild them. I'd recommend removing the ORBX Alaska Mesh [again], then also removing this file:
* %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes\orbx-mesh-alaska.dat

Repeat that process for any other scenery file that you think might be conflicting: disable the add-on, and also remove the corresponding DAT to let the sim rebuild the file as needed.

You could also just delete all of the DAT files and let the sim rebuild those too. Those work for me any time the sim freezes or CTD when it loads an aircraft that somehow got into a bad state.

I had some CTD's after SU13, but since deleting scenery indexes I haven't had anymore CTD's.

No problem.  Please let me choose if I want to use it or not, ok?  Can we come to terms here on this?  I really don’t like it.  There was a similar one in P3D, I used it for a while.

Throwing out a random question here for the OP (or anyone else experiencing this) as I’ve had constant CTD’s in the last 24hrs, and came to the forum looking for any sign of similar situations.

The only change I’ve made on my system (which has otherwise always been stable) within that timeframe is updating my Nvidia RTX driver, so now I’m wondering if there could be a correlation here.

Hi, I wonder if this isn’t because of update 13?  Landon, aka Sniper has posted about his CTD’s too.  I haven’t messed with any new video drivers though, just windows updates.

Sure, your way is having good results, go ahead.

Jack, never use that stupid Rolling Cache, after every update you could get problems with that nonsens and i belive it does not make anything better..

I do not use RC and i am a lucky Camper since !

Thanks PM.  After extensive testing tonight I think my PC just can’t handle everything, I think it’s the Just Flight Traffic, even on low settings it overwhelms my PC.  Without it I’m not getting CTD’s.  I guess time will tell.  Cheers.
