Going to be a busy weekend with all these new releases!  YWG-MSP is a good flight.

Not a fan of the price, it's only $5 cheaper than Inibuild's JFK which is a way bigger airport.

Oy, btw this and MSP and PSP imma be hurting. Plus updates for BUF and JFK and the Horizon 789 this weekend

I picked up the SimAddons CYWG a while back and it is pretty good. Is there anyone who can shed some light as to whether the FSimStudios CYWG is significantly better? The pictures don't look that much different from each other. I do have several of the FSS Canadian airports and they are all very good, but I probably won't bite on this one if it is not a giant step up.

Cheers, Pete

I have the SimAddons one too and find myself debating this too. The screenshots are not inspiring me to want to repurchase this one. It has an interior, but that does not interest me so much. The price is also kind of high for me, so if I do decide to get the FSimStudios one it will be when it is on sale sometime in the future.

Exactly my thoughts, and I think the Simaddons MSFS airports are better looking than they were for P3d, even though they still weren't bad.

I think many competing developers underestimate the quality of Simaddons products, maybe because Ralph started slowly with MSFS. I got his CYWG pretty early when it was available, and I was not impressed. It used photogrammetric data from the default Winnipeg scenery for some of the less important buildings. However, Ralph is very diligent in improving his products, and by now his CYWG is a very fine scenery. Plus, he adds extra features like de-icing, moving people, or - just recently - hangar doors that can be opened from anywhere on the airport.

Judging from screen shots, I would guess that FSimStudios CYWG has better textures and pays more attention to finer details at the airport. However, given that I only occasionally fly to CYWG, I will likely stick with Simaddons as well.

I mean, opinions are personal and highly subjective, I just don't see how Simaddons' CYWG scenery compares that favourably to FSimStudios' version, if you didn't already own it.

For me, Simaddons' texture colour palette is far more cartoon-like and a lot of textures are flat.
When the promo screenshots on the website cannot be enlarged to see more detail, alarm bells ring for me.

As someone who doesn't own either version, I wouldn't rush out to buy FSS CYWG. However, I certainly would be happier paying the extra $5 to get a better representation.

Yes, if I had not purchased the SimAddons version already my choice would be clear, as the textures are much more refined on the FSimStudios product. It is more of a question because I have already bought this airport and while the textures are not as good, the layout of the airport and taxiways are accurate and the basic modelling of buildings and surroundings is representative. For an airport I might fly to a few times a year I am not yet convinced to make the new purchase. But I will add it to my wish list and pick it up on a sale at some point in the future.
