Beta and reverse thrust help needed

Featured Replies

I am trying to get my bravo throttle to work with the new FSR500 plane.

I would like is to use about 75% of the upper part of the throttle range for idle to max thrust.

For the bottom 25%, as I reduce the throttle, I would like the throttle to go into beta and then full reverse.

I would rather not use the button below the throttle to go into beta/reverse.

I have tried adjusting the various dead zones and center points but I have not been able to get it to work.

My knowledge about configuring the axis are pretty bad.

Can anyone explain how this could be done or point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Sorry, don't have that aircraft and I have no idea how the reverser works on that.

If, as you say, this is all on the same axis, I would suggest to create two separate Axis assignments in AAO, one for forward, one for reverse, to the same physical lever. Set Axis Min and Max just so each assignment will only cover the required range of the Axis  event or variable, then use the blue triangles to limit the response of the physical lever on each assignment so they don't overlap.
In theory it could work like that.

Alternatively use the button function in the Bravo's detent as the trigger for reverse.

Setting up two separate axis assignments did the trick.

It works exactly as I wanted it to.

Thanks for the help.

I've tried doing this with no luck at all.  I've set one axis for throttle 1 and the same axis for reverser.  I can't figure where to set the max ranges,  I've tried throttle 1 at to have 75% of the max range and the reverser to have 25% but they still seem to clash.

Set your throttle assignment to -100% to +100%. It works like a charm.

If I have it on max range then the BETA part of the throttle kicks in when the throttler is only half way back. I have detents on the throttle and would prefer only to go into BETA once I'm passed my lowest detent.

This is how I set it up.

I used "select axis" and used throttle one.

On the top Throttle 1, left margin is 30% and center is 49%

On the bottom Throttle 1, center is 27%

Did you set Axis Min and Axis Max for both ranges, so they don't overlap? I doubt that this can be done with the blue triangles alone.

Yes, the top one is set from 0 to 1

The bottom one is set from -0.24 to 0

This also gives me a little bit of a null area where the throttle stays in the idle position with some play.

Though I just saw the post by chrisxx, that might be an easier way, will have to give that a shot when I get a chance.

Okay I have the ranges set and my throttle axis set as Lancealotg has theirs set,  My forward throttle works fine and stops in line with my detent but my BETA range now goes full reverse the second it moves onto the axis range.  even though there is a around 25% of the range to go.

if I set one throttle axis to -100 +100 I get the same result, as soon as it enters beta range it slams back into full reverse.

Try using Throttle Axis one for your Bravo.  Then set up the detent as a key for Throttle Reverse as per this video.  Work great for me.

You still have overlapping axis ranges. Maybe contact lancealotg directly. maybe he is willing to help you out - I don't have that aircraft.

I think that two things have to match - the positioning of the blue triangles, so they define separate ranges on the two assignments AND the correct setting of Axis Min and Axis Max. Take a look at the posts above again, the Min and Max values are fractions between -0.24 and 0 and the other 0 to 1.0. 100 is most definitely wrong.

The question was how to do this in AxisAndOhs...

I didn't know this thread existed. Spent one hour this morning trying to tackle this. I finally got it to work.

Throttle:    AXIS_THROTTLE1_SET   (Axis min: -16383   Axis max: 16383)  (set left margin to 10%)

Beta:  THROTTLE1_DECR   (Axis min: - 0   Axis max: 1)  (set left margin to 10%)  [This only enters the top portion of the BETA range]

Reverse: I use the detent of the throttle axis to enter full reverse

Key Down Event: THROTTLE_DECR ()

Key Up Event: THROTTLE_CUT

Button <23>   check: Repeat and Fast

I might be wrong here but.Don't -16383/16383 and -0/1 overlap ? -0 and 1  value/points  are between  -16383 and 16383 ?. I'm still struggling with assigning axis and axis advanced mode.
