I don't consider delivering accurate systems modelling in a high end simulation of a combat jet to be superfluous, I consider it a necessity.

Ultimately I don't realistically see how  HB/IFE can delivery that in MSFS leading to something pretty but hollow.

IFE's other military aircraft feel great. But I'm obviously not a real pilot.

That trailer was something else...the feature this aircraft really needs are a button to play the Top Gun soundtrack so I can feel as cool flying this as the trailer looked!

There are many IRL aviators, flying in both MSFS and DCSW, who readily state how woefully incomplete and inaccurate even the highest of high fidelity addons/modules are.

Eagle Dynamics themselves frequently remind us that there are significant - and intentional - inaccuracies and omissions in most of the addons available (and especially in their modern aircraft & weapons). Should we not fly those addons because they don't have accurate systems modeling?

The AWG-9 is as functionally useless in MSFS as the Phoenix's it guides.

Dismissing the OTHER 50% of the crew and all the excellent things that will still be possible in MSFS is definitely, as I've said, throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Interesting comparisons, but I don't see the issue. If the weapons system is important to you, fly the plane in DCS. If not, enjoy it in MSFS after it is available.

Sensors including radar are not the same thing as weapons.

For you it may be, for me the bit you dismiss is the really enjoyable 50%.

I'm not at all dismissive of it, and if you're sadly mistaken if that's what you believe.

In sum, you've basically said there's no point in bringing this aircraft to MSFS unless it includes combat sensors & weapons - features that the sim simply doesn't support (and doesn't WANT to support).

So instead of being satisfied with the part of the experience that will be possible - that of flying the jet, you choose to throw a wet blanket on it.

Your glass is half empty, mine is half full.

No, just the sensors.

As you know there's is nothing in MSFS which precludes Radar and other planes have included them to varying degrees.

If you're happy to compromise on systems that's fine. In this case I'm not.

You're certainly entitled to prefer certain features, but I fear you're doomed to dissatisfaction with this particular one.

After all, this is a FLIGHT simulator, not a RIO simulator...

It may be that HB/IFT will bring some level of RIO systems to this add-on, but it would be literally extraordinary to bring them at a Hi Fi level in this vertical, particularly at the median prices for .mil aircraft.

In any case, I hope they have figured out some magic to deliver feature parity with DCS Tomcat. I'm obviously doubtful for the reasons already shared.

In the end, I will almost certainly enjoy the opportunity to explore the world in this over most others, regardless of it's "shortcomings".
