This is now my second winter here in Hot Springs, AR and I find it ironic that it is currently as cold as NW Indiana from which I fled seeking among other things a warmer winter! The little pond in my front yard is frozen over and covered with about 4 inches of snow. My cottage has two reverse-cycle window units that are just barely keeping me warm. Fr. Yeah, I think a lot of people from up north are surprised at how cold it can get down here. The weather in Arkansas is pretty similar to Tennessee. Although these single digit temps lately are below normal, it does get pretty cold here in the Winter. In the East you have to get down to Florida or the southern half of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia to really get those mild winters. The downside is that in those places you have to deal with very long, hot Summers and high humidity. We lived in south Alabama and didn't much care for the 90 degree 80+% humidity days in May and September and the 80+ degree days in April and October - it was a bit much. Alas, there's no perfect place. January 17, 20242 yr It's not just US. Cold in UK too, in fact -15c possible in Scotland. The jet stream is dragging cold air south.
January 17, 20242 yr We just emerged from a short cold spell where the lows got down to the single digits but the highs were about 45F. Today we get out of it with lows in the 30s and highs in the 60s. I can't complain about that. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.

I had to divert while I was becoming more and more worried watching the ice accumulating all over the airframe. Pretty well rendered in FS 2020! I made it but it was a scary experience.
