Latest update from PMDG....

Featured Replies

I'm looking forward to having an aircraft of this size with the level of detail PMDG bring.

If the 200/F is the first release I'm going to grab it and then grab the 300ER also once it's ready. If they come together then great!

B450 Tomahawk Max / Ryzen 7 5800x3D / RTX 3060ti 8G / Noctua NH-UI21S Max Cooling / 32G Patriot RAM / 1TB NVME / 450G SSD / Thrustmaster TCA & Throttle Quadrant / Xiaomi 32" Wide Curved Monitor 1440p 144hz

Yeah same release pattern as with P3D. GE90s, then RR other GE and P&W, so LR and 300 come out first.

Agreed... don't think I'll be able to hold out till the 300ER either, unless it is within 2-3 months after the -200xx release. Still, might be best to wait till the 300ER since by then any serious bugs/issues will be fixed and the aircraft more feature-complete (i.e. could give enough time for them to test and release the RF legs etc support along with the 300ER).

It probably will, but it's not out yet and it looks like it's not going to come with the 777 judging by some comments made by RSR last week in a rather, ahem, tumultuous exchange.

Wow that’s unfortunate and rather annoying.

I cannot understand why a real world pilot would be happy to produce a product that lacks that capability.
RNP is everywhere now.

Cheers

Well, note RSR's latest comment though.. it could still come with the first release of the 777, or the subsequent variants, or any time inbetween/after. He's not committing to a timeline, but it doesn't seem like work that's still in early going if he's talking about testing possibly completing in time to release with the 777.

"Covered in numerous other threads. If that functionality completes testing in time to include in the release, then yes. If it is still in testing at release then it will roll in after it completes testing. I won't project a chicken-or-egg at this point because we are more interested in quality and correctness than we are in timelines. - RSR"

I think it is safe to assume that it has been in work for a substantial amount of time. As I pointed out in another thread, changing the format of the nav data is a major undertaking that would require a complete re-write of the FMS coding that deals with parsing nav data from disc. The custom nav data format that PMDG has been using for 20+ years is completely different than standard ARINC 424 data that Navigraph will be providing . It's certainly not a 1 or 2 week project. They have probably had people working on it for at least several months (if not longer).

That's a reasonable response, he should have just said that last week instead.

They hung on to that original navdata format for too long. For a study level sim this should have been at the top of the priority list. It’s why I switched and used the iFly 737 in P3D.
