February 9, 20242 yr After my disappointment with the ugly Duchess 76 cockpit by Thranda that I purchased recently from Justflight I thought lets have more fun this time and fly the default Kingair C90 instead. But to my surprise the button labels on the integrated Garmin GNS 530 are all fuzzy and nearly impossible to read, whereas they are all ok in the default BeechBaron. they are also ok when I pull the Garmin 530 out into a separate window, which then turns from a GNS 530 into a x-plane 530. Also, I can't select KORS Orcas airport in the Kingair default GNS 530, it lets me only select KORSA in Brazil instead. The Baron x-plane 530 version doesn't have that problem. After some research, I found the BeechBaron has this Garmin folder X-Plane 12\Aircraft\Laminar Research\Beechcraft Baron 58\objects\Instruments\Garmin which is missing from the KingAir C90 and might explain why I am having this problem? Another example of very fuzzy analog instruments: on the copilot side in the default Kingair C90: all fuzzy except the airspeed indicator. anybody any ideas what might be wrong with my x-plane12 ? (steam version 12.09.rc5), latest Nvidia driver 551.46, Windows 11, RTX 4090, 4K resolution AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.
February 10, 20242 yr It seems that the C90 is taking the instrument pictures, all of them including the Garmin 530, from within the file C90B_cockpit.png. The instruments there are drawn with much worst resolution than the separate image files for instruments in the Baron.
February 10, 20242 yr Author how can that be, is s anybody else seeing this or is it only my configuration? I can't believe they would ship the default Kingair in x-plane12 with such awful instruments. AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler. 60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking. very nice.
February 10, 20242 yr Please stop getting artificially upset and hysterical over anything Laminar does not get quite right as it is massively annoying. Thank you. Back to business: Lightmaps are drawn from C90B_cockpit_LIT.png and the labels for the 530 are indeed quite fuzzy. The quickest way to fix this is breaking out Photoshop and redrawing them. The slower way is filing a bug and waiting on Laminar to fix it natively. The standby instruments are blurry because they are drawn like 2D panels, which does not offer much in terms of resolution. Quickest fix: Break out Blender, replace with 3D modeled instruments. Slower, but native way: File a bug. Note that the default Kingair has made some strides since XP11 as the engine instruments used to be entirely 2D. If none of the solutions strike your fancy, you can also stare at a G1000 in a C90 instead, by the way: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/89178-king-air-c90b-evo-g1000-blackhawk/ 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
February 10, 20242 yr I have made a quick test doubling the size of the file C90B_cockpit.png from 2048x2048 to 4096x4096 pixels and the simulator loads the new bigger file without problems. So I may have a little project sharpening some texts.

I was hoping maybe someone had some useful solution because the default Beech Baron's GNS 530 is acceptable, but as I said before I bought a simulator, not an SDK or a DIY kit. please don't reply anymore if all you can contribute are your usual condescending comments. If that is really by design and not caused by user error on my end, then this is bordering on misleading and false advertising: "Our development team has spent 30+ years refining the rendering engine" "New in X-Plane 12 - This is flight simulation, done right." yeah, right. February 11, 20242 yr Commercial Member I find it astonishing that after all your rants, you expect someone to provide a "useful solution". I was actually about to respond to your questions, but after your last post (the one above), you have confirmed there really is no point.
