if a dual CCD AMD CPU is detected, you will get a one-time option to choose first CCD only via a message prompt.

Could this one-time option change to allowing to try both? That way, if I'm not sure and I can try both ways before deciding which is best for me.

I have an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. For MSFS 2024, should I enable the Physical Cores option in AutoFPS for this CPU?  I'm not sure if the benefit is only to AMD processors or if it would also benefit mine.

By one-time I actually really meant each time you enable Physical Cores, so if you want to change it just uncheck then recheck Physical Cores and you will be presented with the choice again, so you can easily try either first CCD only or dual CCD. From what I have read, and from the limited feedback I received on this during the 0.4.6.5 test phase, first CCD only provides the best results.

It should also work on Intel CPUs, as it does on my gaming laptop which has an Intel CPU. In your case, your CPU has 8 P cores and 16 E cores, so enabling Physical Cores will use all 8 physical cores of the P cores and will not use the E cores for the MSFS process specifically. Let me know how your experience goes with this.

Back in my MSFS2020 days using a 13600K, disabling the E-cores resulted in hampered performance. Also now, my system is as optimized as possible so my impression is that activating the optimization somehow worsens the performance. I use it without, the dynamic LOD function of the tool is sufficient for me 👍😊

That's fine. FYI, I will also be rolling this change out to DynamicLOD_ResetEdition when I am sure it is stable, so the good thing is that you will now be able to quickly try either way with the new checkboxes.

Edit: I am wondering though when you did try that with MSFS 2020, did you disable E cores completely eg in the BIOS, so that it affected all processes, or did you limit the disabling of E cores to just MSFS 2020 eg via Set Affinity in Task Manager Details? If the former, it may be worth trying it again using the app's method, which is the equivalent of the latter, as it still keeps your E cores running for everything other than MSFS.

Most of this is WAY over my head, but I was thinking about this also.  Like many flight simmers, I use a fair amount of add-ons (Fenix, BeyondATC with live traffic, etc.).  So in that regard, the app's method might help but I'm not sure.

There's only one way to find out and you won't break anything by trying. Theoretically, E cores shouldn't be being allocated to the MSFS process anyway, nor do you want them to, so this will make it absolutely sure.

Via BIOS. So yes, it affected software running alongside. But back then, not a lot was running in parallel. Now I cant test it anymore, no Intel, no E-Cores 🤣 But as mentioned, through my simming career, al this HT disabling stuff never provided any benefit for my rigs. The only thing that did was AffinityMask setting back in FSX/P3D times. Not unhappy that I dont have to tinker around with such things anymore though 😉

I have been running my 9800X3D with physical cores only since I created this feature and while I cannot say for sure that it is any better, it certainly isn't any worse so I have left it that way. The good thing about options like this is that they are, well, optional! 😊

0.4.6.7-test2 update has just been released, providing more responsive and easier to trigger mouse over events for MSFS Performance Optimiser sub settings. Also, dynamic tooltips for each setting now tell you what is currently active for a particular setting when MSFS has been attached. See here for screenies at the top.

Unable to install the latest version really frustrating.
