16 hours ago16 hr Hi Guys,Thank you everyone for the amazing work that is being done in developing this app.Can anyone recommend AutoFPS settings for a 5090 with a 9800 processor? I normally use DLSS FG x3/x4, mainly airliner IFR.What I have noticed is that I was always using it in Auto, and that AutoFPS has been restoring traffic settings which I normally keep OFF, putting it back on?Thanks everyone!Gio Edited 16 hours ago16 hr by radial360 Giorgio La Pira
16 hours ago16 hr Where is the best place to download MSI Afterburner? Does Afterburner change anything during installation? I would only install it for the new AutoFPS feature—or is that possible without it? My MSFS 2024 runs perfectly without Afterburner. Is there anything I need to watch out for to ensure the graphics settings aren't altered? While the tool is normally used for overclocking, it can be left with default settings and just be used for monitoring and the OSD overlay, which does not impact MSFS settings in any way. With this new periodic spike detection feature, AutoFPS will reduce TLOD Max if it is detected, but that is no different to how AutoFPS already changes TLOD during a flight session, which it always restores to default MSFS settings anyway when you exit your flight session. To be honest, if you are not already familiar with MSI Afterburner and how to set up monitoring and the OSD overlay, or at the very least have an aptitude for configuring such tools, then it is probably best if you wait out until the test phase for this feature is over so that the feature itself is mature enough for mainstream use. Even then, it is only worth setting up if you are actually experiencing these periodic stutters regularly, so in your case where your MSFS 2024 already runs fine I would not bother doing it. Unless there is a new bug that I am not aware of, it should not be possible for AutoFPS to change something like traffic that was off to on or increase it. If you are setting those traffic settings to off while a flight session is running with AutoFPS controlling it, then the app warns you not to do this and changes them back to what it expects them to be. This is usually the issue when users experience unexpected settings changes, despite the warning message telling them not to do this during a flight session. Is this the case? If not, it could be a bug and I will need to see a log file with Log+ enabled, which can be done by quickly enabling Expert mode, enabling Log+ then disabling Expert mode. This will produce a detailed log that will tell me every setting that AutoFPS every changes in a flight session. The log will be located in %appdata%\MSFS_AutoFPS\log, the contents of which you can paste into a PM to me for me to review. Also let me know what specific traffic settings are supposedly being changed by AutoFPS. FYI the only traffic settings that it monitors and can possibly reduce are Parked Aircraft Quantity and Aircraft Traffic Quantity. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

In any case it was precisely that... the parked traffic which I have set to off as I normally fly online or use static traffic addons.Having said that, any recommended settings? I am completely lost now with all the different options available. Thanks! Giorgio La Pira

The main thing when using non-Expert mode is to make sure that your default MSFS TLOD setting is more of a mid-point than a maximum TLOD to be achieved. With a system of your power, I would suggest a default TLOD of 200, which will allow TLOD to range as low as 50 and and as high as 400 in IFR mode and 100 and 600 in VFR mode, which is plenty, even with a mighty 5090. When changing this default TLOD settings, make sure you are NOT in a flight session if AutoFPS is running and it will save correctly. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

The test version will function fine without MSI Afterburner running and will just mean that feature is not activated. Other changes in the test version are minor and quite mature, so you should not have any issues. If you do want to easily switch back to the last release version, just change test channel from Test+ to Release and you should be prompted to auto revert to 0.5.1.0. Just click yes and it will do it all for you. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

All existing functionality and interaction with companion apps is the same. If the app doesn't detect the RTSS frame buffer being available in the background, the new periodic spike detector simply does nothing. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

I can consistently get the issue to appear, be detected and resolved by TLOD reduction on both of my systems, but only when they are pushed so hard that average FPS plummets too because TLOD is around 1000 in a complex scenario eg. low 20s on my 4090 desktop and low 10s on my gaming laptop. ie. still essentially unplayable even after the spikes are cleared. We'll see how you go with your testing, as your spikes may trigger well below when average FPS starts tanking anyway, but at this stage I am thinking my original advice of not having settings so high in such complex scenarios still stands. Nonetheless, I have actually enjoyed the challenge of detecting these periodic spikes, especially when average frame times are also changing and other normal frame time variances exist too, so all is not lost even if this doesn't pan out to be useful to anyone but you. I look forward to your results. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
