Ultra-wide problem with MSFS…

Featured Replies

I built a new gaming PC in the past month so i decided to upgrade my 1440p monitor to a 57” ultra-wide curved dual 4k (7680x2160) Samsung monitor. I didn’t want a 1440p ultra-wide monitor because the gauges are just not sharp. I fired up the new monitor and in most games it looks amazing. But when i launched MSFS this monitor has a bad case of fisheyes. And it gives me a headache. I guess because there is no FOV setting in MSFS this really cannot be fixed. I tried zooming in more but it really does little to fix the issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

Do you see stretched planes on the sides? It is like the plane is twice as long on my setup.

The "zoom level" if the FOV. I've got a muscle memory of setting Zoom to 62 on external view as we cannot change the default.

turn lens correction OFF in general settings, it might help.

Looks amazing on my 49inch super wide screen (even better on quest 3).

As others have said, to resolve the fish eye effect (on any size monitor), you simply need to use the 'zoom' control in SETTINGS > CAMERAS and increase the zoom.   The zoom setting you had with your smaller monitor will need to be increased (eg. zoomed in) with a large monitor.

I added images to the OP.

I'm using double wide too 32:9. But 1440p. Notice my gauges are round, not oval. I don't know what's up with the OP (his gauges are stretched out of round shape).

try going back and forth from full screen to windowed a few times. Also make sure your resolution in Options is 7680x2160

I'm at 72 fps because 144 native Hz locked in MSFS Vsync to 1/2 rate.

My gauges are fine too if I look straight at them. But if I change the view to the right/left they get a bit stretched.

Translate cockpit view forward and translate cockpit view backward commands will zoom the cockpit panel, but not the scenery outside the window. Using the mouse zoom will zoom both scenery and panel at the same time..

Sorry, not following you.

Those two view translation commands set the zoom on the fly without going to settings. They do the same thing as the advice above using MSFS Camera zoom slider in options.

My double wide is 1800R curved which is gentle curvature. But all widescreens will elongate round objects in MSFS. Maybe MSFS 2024 will not have that issue. There really is no cure for distortion at the 2 ends of a double wide window in 2020. So everybody with more than 16:9 ratio display has same issue as you do. But somehow yours look a bit worse than mine.
