Nice Video Rob!  Thanks for posting this beta tester video!

Just to mention, much of the footage looks like it was made during the early beta process.  Much has changed since then.  We have specifically spent much time on thunderstorm presentation in the past weeks, especially in the past few days, and in order to get the best heights, with a balance of performance, we are getting 30K+ heights.  I just got one at 37K but had to reduce this variation cap a little for perf, now the most you'll see in general is about 35K in most circumstances.  Always a work in progress.

Was a huge fan of Active Sky in P3D. I just hope that it is the end of clouds like these.

All on ULTRA settings and just look horrible, the wrong colour, and unrealistic. But I imagine this is a sim thing and nothing can be done.

I miss the old days of Active Sky for the injection and Rex Sky Force for the actual depiction. Looked so much better than MSFS.

I can confidently say that I've never seen clouds depicted like that testing ASFS, well... maybe in some earlier testing/trial sessions gone wrong!  But nothing assigned for actual use.  We've worked really hard to provide the cloud layer configuration parameters to get the right visuals while keeping accuracy and cloud layer type as precise as possible.  Density, scatter, coverage and height parameters all have a very significant impact on the depiction rendered in MSFS.  Going too far depending on thickness, type, altitudes, density or coverage can yield bad results like above.  Tuning is so very important.  And always an ongoing process.  Anyhow, stay tuned for post-release screenshots and videos which can show more, or maybe give it a try yourself when available!  Thanks for your support!

Is there any way for this unrealistic gray volcanic ash cloud color to be adjusted? Some kind of different color textures? That would be an instant buy for everybody.

Thanks for the feedback, Damian. When are we getting some official videos to highlight the questions some have?

You're welcome Damian! As mentioned earlier, this was a different build, things have been quickly improving per the feedback of the beta testing team.

Stay tuned for more!

Hopefully the screenshots form the Active Sky website are from a different/old build.

These shots are both great examples of the sim clouds looking terrible but yet HiFi seem to have chosen them to showcase their product....

Hopefully, for their own good, they will come up with different textures as others did like runways, taxiways, and season colors to correct this ugly cloud coloring. I think that it will be a hot sale if they do, otherwise.............

What I liked in that video was the stratus layer depiction, it looked really quite good and I rarely see this now in MSFS because it seems like stratus is just made up of mashing cumulus together...you don't get the often smooth surface on the tops like you do in real life with stratus. So I liked that. But I hope they have more compelling vids that show more contrast / difference between what they are offering and what we presently have. That will be the key to persuading folks I think. I bought almost every edition of activesky for p3d over the years and loved it, but I need to see more of a contrast. also, I'm not sure if I'm reading correctly but it seems like everything is either historical or a preset. If that is right, then it's a much less appealing product because I want dynamic realtime weather, particularly the ability to see the outline of a front approaching or moving through an area.

I know they are good and have lots of experience so my fingers are crossed for this going forward. Looking forward to more vids showing the difference.
