Or is it planned that such real life practices could be customized by the users?

Something like this could be eminently achievable I think, but the underlying ATC environment has to be right first.  Also given the number of bespoke arrangements around the world it would probably need to be community generated, so vox would not do it automatically, but would need to facilitate a user making these rules/selections and sharing them.

But what strikes me the most is that the non-english voices seem to be just randomly assigned, what again does not enhance the immersion but rather break it. I wouldn't expect a Delta pilot with an eastern European accent or a Condor pilot with a southern European accent. It think it is essential that these voices are automatically assigned appropriately.

That's because at the moment they are.  It is on the radar to have a way of dynamically assigning them but as @Cpt_Piettsaid, it's beta, a work in progress and you comments are duly noted, thank you!

Also the radio noise effect could be more realistic I think. I've heared better effects in other apps.

Ok thanks for that.  Probably not the hardest tweak so I'll make a note.

I think my expectations are not as high as yours - definitely not a deal-breaker. Realistic vectoring, control of AI aircraft, phraseology = a lot more important.

We absolutely agree on this. I mentioned that before. I am willing to make compromises on the voices if the essentials are convincing. That's why I use FSHud and have no interest in BATC at the moment. But you asked for opinions about the voices, so I mainly just commented on the voices.

Yes, sounds reasonable. AFAIK FSHud also plans for a feature like that.

Good to know.

Exactly what I think, except replace FSHud with PF3.

I wouldn't know, sorry. How's BATC with regards to this? I haven't used it much since I started beta testing Vox. I've done a few flights with BATC today though, so I do have some thoughts. Maybe I'll do a comparison video - would that be useful? E.g. same departure, same runway, same time etc.

Not sure if that would be good idea. After all both VoxATC and BATC are still deep in development with the difference that BATC does that in public. I think such comparisons at this stage couldn't do any of the apps justice.   Most probably it would just start an unnecessary flame-war. Let's keep that for after the release of VoxATC 🙂.

I don't mind a comparison being made. I agree a flame war would be unproductive but I'm sure the mods could give an appropriate holiday to anyone who got out of hand.  Truth is, as I've said before, no one app is likely to be perfect for everyone.  VoxATC is the closest to meeting my needs, but another app might be better for someone else.  That's fine.  I'm confident @Cpt_Piettcould do a comparison video without any bias, and most people would be able to be honest about their opinions and what would work best for them individually, without being idiots. 👍

I don't have any vested interested in VoxATC other than being a beta tester. I think BATC holds a lot of promise, but for now I prefer VoxATC. I'm trying to stay as impartial as possible and avoid falling into the trap of cognitive dissonance.

A flame war will not serve anyone, and might end up getting the thread closed, which would be unfortunate. However, I feel that a comparison could be useful. I don't think it would be unfair, as both products are under continuous development.

Doing a comparison flight, EHRD to EGLL, no AI traffic. Weather might be different since they're both using live weather. I'll try to keep it as fair as possible.

I decided to do a side-by-side comparison of VoxATC and BeyondATC in order to compare differences, strengths and weaknesses. Doing this, I tried to be as impartial as possible. However, I've been beta-testing VoxATC quite intensively recently, and have quite a bit more experience with that addon.

The video might be a bit confusing. I basically flew EHRD-EGLL with BeyondATC first, then with VoxATC. Then I edited the video to compare various stages of the flight - IFR clearance, startup, taxi, takeoff etc.

As I doubt many people have time to sit through my lengthy videos, I just wanted to mention what I found was one of the most obvious differences BATC vs Vox in the last video (EHRD-EGLL).

With BATC, I was cleared for ILS27L just below FL100. Whereas with Vox, I got vectored to final.

It's getting closer but there are still things to do.  I can't give you a date, it will be ready when it's ready.
