You have to use the PilotId by doing the import and that should save the Id.  If you don't do that or don't shut down normally, it won't be saved.

I don't understand how you are getting the CTD.  Make sure you have updated to Early Access 0.0.6 and if it happens again, email the log file to me so I can see what's causing it.

On Chatter, after you get the files copied to the ...Sounds/ATC_Chatter folder, be sure you have the "Regions" Chatter Option selected and the Chatter Enabled option checked in Settings.

Here's an update on V3 status. We had hoped to get an early release out by the end of August, but that is today, and it's not quite ready.   New target is to have it out by mid-September, an

Will I still be able to use my P2A version 2 installation whilst evaluating version 3 (and in particular testing it on my Windows 7 PC currently running version 2).

Thanks

I can’t seem to be able to assign a joystick button to PTT. The only options available in the drop-down are “blank” and “mouse”.

Dave,

I have been a big fan of the app for some time and always thought that the steep learning curve for the interface was worth it.

I have just tried v3 and am finding myself completely lost with the new interface, despite having seen the two videos.

I find that the interaction options for the copilot are much more limited than the Grammar+ options that existed before. I am going to try to read the manual now, since I had mistakenly thought that I'd be able to figure things out since I'd used the prior version. The new interface is going to take a lot of getting used to regardless.

By the way, I too cannot get my Simbrief user ID to stick and have to input it every time that I want to download a flight plan.

Edit to add: I cannot find a user manual in the installation folder or on the website. Just a quick start guide.

Pete, it should not be a problem running it on the same PC as V2 as there are no files/folders in common between them.  However, it has not been tested on any versions of Windows other than 10 and 11. If you do test on Win7, please let me know how it goes.

Yes there are a lot of differences.  The Smart Copilot is designed to make finding the right phrase to use easier.  To see the most options, be sure you have the Advanced Copilot Features enabled by pressing the small button with the image of the Copilot so it is highlighted.  This will give you multiple ways to make almost all requests.  Without that, then only the very minimal/simplest phrases are used, with virtually no choices.

Thanks. I figured that might be what was going on, but clicking and unclicking that option didn't change the options I was seeing in the request screen. I was simply looking for a way to check in! Is there no way to report things like before, just requests?

The available options are driven by the State of the Flight and the Active Controller Type.  For the checkin, it should be available when Departing or  EnRoute (and probably a few other states) and on a frequency for Departure, Center, Approach.     It takes some getting used to, but makes sense after you've used it a while.

Most, not all, options are available right after you connect if you switch to a controller that has that capability.

Try connecting and switching to a Center Frequency.  Then you should see Initial Contact as one of the options.  However, when you load and file a flight plan, that option will go away and those things you might do with a Center controller while on the ground will remain, like IFR Clearance, IFR Release, etc.

An add-on to my previous comment about the Simbrief ID not saving. You have to enter it and then press Close, without importing a flight plan. That will save it. If you input it and then press import, it does not save it.

Also, connection to the sim takes MUCH longer. So much so that I thought there was an error. I mean it seems to be taking 30-60 seconds to connect. Never mind - it must have just been the first time. While it's connecting quicker, some interactions take a really long time to perform.

I cannot find the Auto Route option that is referenced in the settings. Is that no longer possible?

The next update will fix it so when you do an import, the PilotId will be saved.

The connection time is longer the first time.  Also, Validating or Filing a plan can take a while the first time.  A lot of information is being generated, like names along the route so, for example, you can use airport names instead of always having to use the Kilo Papa Alpha Romeo type of name.  I will be working to see if these times can be cut back, but that won't happen right away.  It may not even be possible.

AutoRoute in V2 generated procedures for your route.  That is available in V3 in the button above the flight plan called Gen Procs.

Update 09 says "

  • Adds Joystick Device list when starting program to assist in debugging issues with assigning Joystick button

What exactly does this mean? I still cant see any joysticks in the dropdown.

They'll be in the Log file.

After you shut down P2A, go to the Log files and email the most recent one to me.  I will then be able to try and diagnose why no devices are showing up in the drop-down.

P2A Log files are located in:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\P2A_300\Logs
where <UserName> is your PC user name.
