Meta screwed up here it was nothing to do with OpenXR Toolkit

The fact is OXRToolkit is no longer supported & it crashed my MSFS & the Oculus software works fine without OXRToolkit,

the OXRToolkit developer recommends to not use his software now (very sensible advice)…

It was an error in coding made on Metas part that caused the crash, Meta have now (apparently) fixed the issue which should roll out soon (hopefully for Oculus users that is, the rest of us have no such issues).

As I said, OpenXR Toolkit remains a perfectly fine tool to use and has many many benefits over stock default MSFS VR which helps vastly improve the experience. If a game is no longer supported do you stop playing it? no, you carry on. Until the day the Toolkit actually hard crashes for everyone it is perfectly safe to use, it's pretty plain & simple to understand 🙂

Edit; To quote someone else today;

Meta’s developers have released a patch that fixes the compatibility issue with the OpenXR Toolkit.

I recommend participating in the public test channel v68 to install the hotfix.

On behalf of the MSFS community I would like to thank the developer of the OpenXR Toolkit for assisting the Meta developers in resolving an issue with their application.
@mbucchia Your help was invaluable and greatly appreciated.

I've had the beta Meta installed and MSFS has been loading just fine. I've had Meta installed for some time now (since Feb 2024). Quest 2. I don't use Open XR (never have).

Open. Xr toolkit is a great little tool for improving visuals and performance. Would really recommend it and it’s free

I've stopped using it given it will no longer be supported.

I still need it for other games like dcs and assetto corsa etc. (mainly turbo mode and world scale)

Just an FYI it looks like the Quest app beta version was just updated and fixes the issue with the OpenXrToolkit.  I just enabled it and started msfs and no crash to desktop.
