July 29, 20241 yr There was a mod posted a long time ago about lowering the Captains eyepoint on the A 320. I just had to do a complete reinstall for an issue I was having, and lost that setting. Does anyone remember it?

July 29, 20241 yr Easiest way to do this for any plane is map a control for "VFR Pilot View Save" and use that. In the past I would edit the .cfg but this keyboard command will override the default camera position. 9800X3D | 5090 | 64GB DDR5 | LG C2 42"

July 29, 20241 yr Do you not just set custom camera views in every aircraft anyway? It’s a much better experience doing this. Just set them to the numbers 1-9 (and 0) and away you go. Couldn’t be simpler. No messing around with cfg files, no VFR Pilot view or any funny business.

I am talking about the default pilots cockpit view which I see when I first get in the aircraft. In the Fenix, it is just a tad high, and I had changed the cfg a bit so it was perfect. I neglected to write the settings down, and when I reinstalled the Fenix, I lost it.

Yeah but you don’t need to use this default view at all. It’s completely pointless. Just move the camera position and angle where you want and save this like pilot position view you want when flying to 1, overhead to 2, normal view but looking up so you can see outside and also the light switches so it’s easy when entering and exiting runways to 3, pedestal to 4, go pro dash cam to 5, FMCs to 6, left wing view to 7, right to 8 etc, or whatever numbers you want. Then when the flight loads you just press 1 and you will be in your perfect view and you’ll never need to see the default view again, you don’t need any weird config editing or anything like that, or have to put up with views the developers have set up, or use the camera menu, or weird shortcuts. It couldn’t be easier. Edited July 30, 20241 yr by abennett
July 30, 20241 yr Here's a step by step how I do it. 1. Go into Options > General > Camera (NOT the in-flight Camera Menu) and make absolutely sure that Height, Horizontal Position, and Zoom are set to 50! These are the global values and if they're not set to default (50), all of your future custom views will not save correctly. This is probably a bug because it's counter intuitive to apply global changes all over again when trying to save a view; but it is what it is. 2. In Options > Controls, search for the command "VFR Pilot View Save" and assign a key binding. By default, this command is unassigned... I assigned it to Ctrl + Alt + V. 3. Make a note of your controller assignments for "Reset Cockpit View". Default is Left Ctrl + Spacebar and/or "F" (I also have it assigned to the trigger on my joystick). 4. Load the aircraft of your choice and use the translation, look, and zoom controls to position the camera exactly where you want it. When you have what you want for a default view, press the "VFR Pilot View Save" binding assigned in step 2 (Ctrl + Alt + V in my case). Now, every time you press the "Reset Cockpit View" button(s), it will go back to this view and will NOT alternate to other intermediate views with subsequent presses... yay! 5. Now that you have a default view defined, custom cameras may also be saved the same way using the associated key bindings... default is Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Numpad 0 to 9. These views are recalled using the corresponding "Load Custom Camera #" commands... default is Left Alt + Numpad 0 to 9 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to set individualized default and custom views for each aircraft you own. 7. To save yourself a lot of pain... never, ever, EVER change the global settings in Options > General > Camera again. July 30, 20241 yr Author I think this is the change I made about 2 years ago to lower the eypont I the Fenix. Have to try this when I get home today. [VIEWS]eyepoint = 43.92074, -1.623061, 3.5755627 ; (feet) longitudinal, lateral, vertical distance from reference datum
