Graphics Device Encountered a Problem Drvr 560.81

Recommended Posts

I'm getting this message starting MSFS then it exits the program. Have had this issue with the last few Nvidia drivers. My 3090ti is not overclocked or overheating so those causes can be ruled out. Anyone else? Have some of you settled on an older driver that is stable?

I'm sticking with 552.44 due to this exact problem.  I hadn't updated in a bit and thought when the last update dropped I would give it a go.  Nope!  Could not get MSFS to run at all (same thing you're getting).  Did get it to run if I didn't close the box but close the box and MSFS goes with it.  So I grabbed 552.44 and back to normal.

Honestly, driver updates to me tend to add support for new games and rarely seem to make any noticeable changes with older games (like say MSFS).  I'll stick with what works until I have no choice.

I haven't tried the new driver yet but will this weekend. Are you doing a clean install when you update drivers? If you're just overwriting that could be your issue. But after I install new driver, I'll report back if there's an issue.

Yes. Ran DDU, clean install. 556.12 is the latest I can run but I feel like a much earlier version I was running was better.

It's so simple: nobody needs to udate to the latest driver in case MSFS is working well, unless the new driver brings some specific improvements specifically for MSFS.

No problem with 560.81 for me.

Maybe an idea to perform the procedure I describe in this post:

560.81 is no different/about the same. Certainly doesn't seem to have any negative effect. Other than the standard disk clean-up from time to time, I don't do anything else. I use this PC for work, life and play so never consider just MSFS alone when it comes to any updates.

Do you use any of the game filters in the new NVidia CP? I had this problem and with filters active the sim will only start in DX12.

Open your UserCfg.opt file and set the line "PreferD3D12 1".

I think specifically it relates to use of the RTX game filters.
