September 24, 20241 yr Not the best of reviews. Thats a shame. 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.
September 24, 20241 yr AirFoil Labs, who have two Study Level add-ons in XP (a C172 and KA 350), released an addon for v2020 about a year ago...? Didn't ever seem to get any traction and the reviews were meh, IIRC. JRollon, who collaborated with SimCoders to bring an extremely Hi Fi Marchetti SF260 to X-Plane, was bringing it to MSFS al.ost from the get-go. He published videos of it flying in MSFS a couple years ago. since then, nada. Seems like only a few devs have been willing AND able to make the jump.
September 24, 20241 yr And yet justflight and thrandra seemed to do ok converting the other FS to XP. Perhaps its a one way street, although of cause I’m forgetting inibuilds 787 captain. Previously 24 years on 747-400.Technical advisor on PMDG 747 legacy versions QOTS 1 , FS9 and Aerowinx PS1.

Perhaps its a one way street, although of cause I’m forgetting inibuilds Yeah, it's a complicated situation for everyone. Thranda used to do conversions for Carenado, but there was some sort of falling out between them. Seemed to be about production pace vs quality, etc. Thranda have said that they actually lost money on the JF BAe 146 conversion. And JF have said that the XP market isn't great for them. Some XP devs have done very well in MSFS, both in terms of quality and revenue. IniBuilds and Flying Iron Sims come to mind. Both are highly regarded in their verticals. Cowan Sims (helicopters) has jumped, but their helos simply aren't as good as they were in XP. To the point I probably won't buy another of theirs. Whereas Taogs and Fly Inside have done rather well coming at it fresh from "nowhere". Devs essentially have to learn an entirely new programming language to hop from one sim to another (regardless of which to where). And most are reluctant to do so, and perhaps can't make the jump? MilViz and PMDG both failed at bringing their add-ons to X-Plane...
September 24, 20241 yr I’m both sad to see some of the legacy cottage industry style developers faltering in various was ,and yet excited by the incredible stuff the new comers are bringing to the table. Our hobby is practically unrecognisable from where we were in 2019, (mind you the same could be said for the world as a whole I suppose) 787 captain. PMDG has problems where they go from what I see, it is a studio that should consider new ways of working. On the DC6 it has taken years to correct critical errors for many of us and reading the problems that people have with the 737 since they practically launched it....
