Anyone Have LIMJ Genoa?

Featured Replies

Today I flew Split to Nice and wow, what a great trip it was! Beautiful flight across northern Italy. Then I thought, Genoa would be a good addition to my library of airports. Has anyone any experience of the Beautiful Model of the World version of this airport? Apart from freeware, it seems this is the only one available. Unless anyone knows differently. Feedback appreciated. Cheers.

  • Thanks ! Me too I won’t purchase it again. As MSFS 2024 is around the corner I first want my current airports to be updated/workimg in MSFS 2024.

I would call it decent but not exceptional. The models and ground textures are a bit rough, but of acceptable quality.

Ah, thanks for the feedback Abriael. You more or less confirmed my impressions from having seen the pics on the Orbx site. I may give it a punt at the price.

I've got it too. Personally I think it's a great little airport for the price.

I love it. While it’s a bit dated of course, nothing beats the approach over the nicely modeled busy harbor. Makes for a great finish to the journey you so well described.

Thanks guys. Yes, I have to admit that the design is a little dated, but for the price, it gives me a nice airport in that area with a superb approach! So, I'm pretty happy!

Have in too and I like it a lot …

The approach coming from the east and flying over the harbor is breathtaking.

Flew into it in real life on a 737 a few years ago....   spectacular approach - stunning - with the little mountains with all the road tunnels and houses then the docks and cranes , boats in marinas and out to sea the sun was sparkling...  but the most awesome part was....   - because of the cool air coming down from the ALPS and meeting the hot air from the coast and the med - the turbulence was so exciting,  we were bucking rolling twisting reving up idling down , you could feel the pilot wrestling with the controls - yes you could feel when he was suddenly putting in large sharp counter strikes which were almost constant -  yes a fantastic experience and to cap it all I had asked the stewardess enroute if she could ask the captain for a copy of the Flightplan.   I waited til I was last passenger to leave and sure enough the Captain was standing at the cockpit door waiting for me with Plan in hand !    He actually apologised for the rough approach and said it was often like that coming in to Genoa - I laughed and said thanks to him for such a wonderful ride.......   Genoa has been a favourite destination in the sim ever since.

PS dont forget to have a go at the Circle To Land procedure that Ryanair made especially...

Wow! What a brilliant story. Thanks for sharing. Also, amazing video. I'm going to fly the route later today or tomorrow. Thanks again.

That is a tight final approach! It looks like a very interesting location, so I may have to get this airport myself 👍

Since LIMJ Genoa includes a circle to land approach for runway 10, I thought that I would mention that I have just completed my first ever circle to land approach to runway 14 at LYTV Tivat, and it was a pretty decent landing! I think that I made a slightly wider turn over the bay than I should have (and I was definitely too low), but I lined up nicely, and touched down 522 metres beyond the runway threshold right on the centreline at a descent rate of 115fpm. I was rather proud of myself considering that it was my first attempt

Congratulations on breaking your duck.....   it is great fun and quite a challenge to try Circling approaches and they are on most airport charts  but they are considered to have a higher risk .....  and most sim pilots, it seems, dont seem to do them or even know about them...

Tivat is another favourite of mine which you have found....  you could try LOWI Innsbruck which is a very popular Circle to land....

....KEGE Eagle County might be a bit too difficult for most in a 737, A320 or such,  if you try it let me know if you managed it.... approx 6500' elevation so beware of sliding out in the turn because of the thinner air....
