I recall posting this at the time. Since then Ryan has shaved his head. 😀

Have you seen Ryan's "Merged" podcast?

One point... when Ryan talks about a cube in a sphere, it's almost certainly a radar reflector. The patent for a transparent sphere with a shape inside is on google.

What the other objects were in the 2015 incident, we don't know.

There's going to be another hearing isn't there, this month?

Radar reflector? Hmm, interesting. Personally, it's the tic tac incident that blows me away. Unsure about another hearing. There are so many questions.

Yes, the tic tac incident was interesting.

Scheduled for this month the hearing, if I recall. Claimed to be more whistle-blower.

They have been monitoring us for centuries looking for us to change our behavior.  They took a special interest when we developed and used nuclear weapons.  They will never allow us to exit our solar system unless our propensity to colonize and plunder and making weaponry development a major industry are put aside.  You might say those ETs that are observing us are really prison guards.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

It's always hard to predict what the Little Green Men are going to do next. When will they get tired of teasing us by using saucer shaped vehicles instead of something more sensible and darting around the skies like fairies instead of landing on the Whitehouse lawn or #10 Downing and introducing themselves? Probably never, because actually they are like the gremlins in the fairy tales, and just want to tease us for their entertainment.

Plausible theory, I suppose.  I could see how a highly advanced race of space travelers that have moved beyond greed and violence would not want another race that engages in such things to become interstellar travelers.

Maybe.... but then, IIRC, Voyager 1 and 2 have left the solar system.

But Voyager 1 and 2 didn't have people in them.

Nope. But a threat to another world doesn't need to be manned.

I think we are a long way from being a threat to anything out there.

Yeah, we are a bigger threat to everything in here.  As a species we might not live long enough to go out there.

Makes us wonder how many great filters have to be overcome before a species attains the level of technological development to explore the cosmos.

The first one is the biggest one...anger.  We have to overcome that before we can move on.

Does it look like Earth has existential problems? Ten? A thousand such issues? And how many come about because of the advance of science? I would say at least a hundred and almost all of them come about by means of the advance of science and learning.
