“16:00 pm”. Oh dear, oh dear. Has no one at Microsoft learnt how the 24 hour clock system works? 🤨

Maybe they have to write it like that to avoid legal hassles or being sued. Whatever happens the servers are going to meltdown.

  • The sim is only releasing on the 19th in certain countries that the developers like. For those of us in the great nation of Kiribati, we’re going to have to wait until the 20th.  Kiribati: 5

They could have used a fixed local time so that the global release would be staggered.  But then the VPNs would meltdown.

Actually, 16:00 post meridiem on the 19th would literally be 4:00 ante meridiem on the 20th.

Sure sounded strange and yes PM being post meridian most likely for the NDA being lifted.

Expect real issues day 1 no doubt.

PM being post meridian

while we wait for MSFS 2024, only for those interested in some latin:

"post meridiem" is not "post meridian" (meri-diem from medius dies, mid day in latin). 4 post meridiem = 4 hours after mid day, as the roman pilots used to say.

that's all greek to me. 🤣

no.

4 p.m. "per se" is 4 p.m. local time = 4 hours after mid day local time, where ever you may live. only 4 p.m. "GMT" makes it an absolute world wide valid reference. that's why they listed these time zone tables:

The poster never mentioned local time in his post.

you replied to:

"Grindathotte said:" "16:00 post meridiem on the 19th would literally be 4:00 ante meridiem on the 20th. "

4.p.m. without mentioning a time zone is usually assumed local time, which is not automatically GMT.

But local time or not that is here NOT the question 😃Grindathotte's statement is interesting and true nevertheless, independent of where you live and therefore also true even in your England, with or without GMT.

"16:00 post meridiem on the 19th would literally be 4:00 ante meridiem on the 20th"

and that is true world wide, except that this was more of an academic play on words and was fun nevertheless.

have we now said all that there is to 16:00 .p.m.?
😃

so what's the point of this thread actually?

The original poster was confused when the 19th was. It had nothing to do with Timezones, other people brought that up.

not a good idea when this time MSFS 2024 lands 1 hour later in Kiribati than everywhere else? at least according to MS's release schedule. 4:00 a.m. GILT time is not before anybody else ( probably just  a mistake in their Global Arrival Times schedule for Kiribati, GILT time zone).

Kiribati should be 4:00 am, but according to Microsoft's release schedule is 1 hour later at 5:00 a.m. 😃
