  • The request below was removed and discussion now continues here: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/provide-readable-airport-data-for-little-navmap/11926 I started a request in the MSFS sup

  • Well, getting closer. Very close now. Still testing the flight plan stuff. Here is the changelog for your entertainment: https://github.com/albar965/littlenavmap/blob/release/3.0/CHANGELOG.txt 🙃

  • Reading data is so far no problem as you see in my post above:  But there is still a lot of annoying work and testing to do. Very unlikely I have a beta before Christmas but maybe one this year.

Thanks for the link. Will keep it in mind.

For now I'm happy if I can adapt LNM to the mess Asbobo made there. Have to fetch airports and procedures via SimConnect and navaids from BGL files which have changed too.

Alex

Does anyone have an idea why scrolling in littlenavmap in order to zoom in or out lets MSFS crash (no matter if 2020 or 2024)? It is inconsistent but reproducable.

I use it in combination with traffic injection via PSXT on my i9 13900KS, 64GB memory and a 4090 PC.

Hard to say what can cause this. You can disable traffic transfer in the LNM connection dialog. Maybe it helps.

That's the main use case to have the traffic in LNM for me 🙂

As  I posted on the FS2020/FS2024 forum:

So from tonight's FS2024 live stream, MS/ASOBO are going to fix this to ensure LNM has access!!

I hope this happens for you @albar965  and for us!!

Good news to see that Asobo has acknowledged and are working on it! #3 on the wishlist!

This would at least remove one hurdle on a long way towards a usable MSFS2024.

Regards,
Axel

So they updated MSFS 2024 recently and unencrypted the base default aircraft, which is great news for the aircraft modding community. Now, in light of this, did they also decrypt the necessary files for LNM scenery loading? I hope so...

Good to hear. 👍

I'm working on a solution to load airports and procedures through MSFS 2024 SimConnect which would avoid the encryption issues for airports. This means you need to have the sim running while loading the scenery library but I expect this to load much faster.

Navdata still has to be loaded from the BGL files but there is nothing encrypted (so far).

A discussion with the devs is going on here:
https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/provide-readable-airport-data-for-little-navmap/11926

That's what it looks for now. Navdata and airspaces from BGL files are complete but no airports yet.
Ignore the paths. This is from my Linux development system.

@albar965 Alex, I just have to say that LNM is absolutely amazing.

I discovered it recently and I am learning how to use it properly.

I am running msfs 2024 and map is working just fine but I think it reads all data from my msfs 2020.

Are there any big disadvantages of using it that way?

Thank you again for a great work and dedication.

First thank you for your kind words.

Disadvantages might be a slightly different airport layout in LNM compared to MSFS 2024. Can happen but I'd not expect this often.
Also navaids can be different since they change over time. Procedures, waypoints or airways change or are renamed which can cause problems when loading flight plans. Again: I'd not expect this to happen often.

LNM is quite flexible in this regard. You can also plan a flight using X-Plane data and then use LNM with the XP scenery library while flying MSFS or vice versa.
