Porsche vs. Jaguar

Featured Replies

So you know demographics and sales number for Jaguar and their customer trends over the past 10 years?  So these aren’t “real people” or are they just people you don’t like for some reason which I can assume is driven your own insecurity?  People that don’t dress like you, people that don’t look like you, people that don’t talk like you, people that don’t behave like you …

What was that about tyranny again?

  • Utter "woke" rubbish. Might be the end of Jaguar.

  • Well we've had 6 Jaguars in this household over the years, all bought new or as ex-demonstrators, and we have never had to make a single warranty claim or had a breakdown.  There won't be any mor

  • No, that's totally wrong. There's a multitude of electric sports cars in existence. Phenomenal performance and with the battery down low, so a low centre of gravity, great handling.  Rimac Nevera

Wow do I remember that weekend. The stranded cars along the steep mountain highway I-80 which runs from Reno almost all the way down and over to San Francisco. There were dozens of tow trucks trying to unclog the mess of EV's stranded in the cold.

Let's say that you have a normal IC car and its cold when you wake up in the morning. It won't start because the battery won't crank the engine over. You jump charge and go on your way. This happens when battery power fails in the cold weather. Every single person living in a cold area is very familiar with this.

An EV is powered by batteries. It's not just the starter. It fails in cold weather .

DUH!

Hybrids get around this whole issue nicely. It is a very major reason why Toyota has mostly given up on EV's and is instead making hybrids.

The nightmare in the Holiday season in Reno wasn't at one charging station. Why would cars line up for over a mile at a failed station instead of simply going to the non failed station? It was because all the stations failed in Reno because all the EV cars would not take a charge in a timely manner.

On the news that night it was the lead story here, all over the Northern California great Central Valley. When the nightly news ended some of the various TV stations continued on with another half hour of so with reports. It was an absolute conflagration.

Playing devil's advocate, but... what if that opinion is demonstrably wrong and damaging and propagated to millions as definitive fact via the internet? Does it become a highly dangerous lie rather than an opinion?

Can you give me an example of where this has happened?

Are we going to have a philosophical debate about what exactly a ‘fact’ is?

I’ve no doubt people here who are skeptical of the benefits and practibility of EVs and their practical application can produce facts to back these opinions up.

You yourself have presented a web page from the National Grid to back up your opinion with ‘facts’, no?

If you read it carefully you’ll note it’s actually pretty light on ‘facts’ but heavy on assumptions.

Can we conclude that fact and opinion are frankly nebulous and the difference between them mostly dependent on the eye of the beholder?

A variation on the theme of lies, word not allowed lies and statistics….

So what needs to be made great again?

Not interested in “opinions” nor “beliefs” they are roads to hate and failure.  Tyranny and opinions are not related … people in Ohio are not eating cats and dogs.  That’s a fact, not an opinion and as such is not tyrannical.  If you can’t distinguish between the two, then you are not doing well.

But again, you have not engaged in the facts I listed for Chevy Bolt EV, but have persisted in “opinion” from zero experience

You need to wipe the spittle from your eyes.

Tyranny and opinions are not related? Surely the suppression of opinion is a form of tyranny.

You seem to have an urge to suppress and stifle opposing views on these forums that you don’t approve of and make some hilarious assumptions into the bargain.

I am not any sort of North American and I have expressed no view whatsoever about EVs here. In fact, at the moment I don’t even own a car.😀

My wife on the other hand has a VW ID3. It’s a company car….

Btw, the majority of EVs sold in the UK are indeed company cars. The article Martin linked to bigs up private ownership of EVs but again, if you actually read it carefully……
