  • Utter "woke" rubbish. Might be the end of Jaguar.

  • Well we've had 6 Jaguars in this household over the years, all bought new or as ex-demonstrators, and we have never had to make a single warranty claim or had a breakdown.  There won't be any mor

  • No, that's totally wrong. There's a multitude of electric sports cars in existence. Phenomenal performance and with the battery down low, so a low centre of gravity, great handling.  Rimac Nevera

I won't rehash old debates, but ailchim makes a good point about the electricity required.  This and other serious problems with EVs are something that advocates of them, as well as other related things, don't like to talk about.  They get defensive and even hostile when someone simply poses a question which challenges their beliefs.  The responses are often unreasonable and even hysterical at times.

You don’t consider that you might be a mirror of these opinions?

Defensive, hostile when posed a question that challenges deeply held beliefs, etc?

To get back to the original post, I predict that Jaguar either changes their advertising, or they lose sales and end up being bought out by some Chinese company.

Thankfully that won’t happen as they are already owned by the powerful Indian company Tata.

They have been merged with land rover to form the company JLR, Jaguar Land Rover.

This debacle will be hurting the Land Rover side of the business, which is doing very well now and generating large profits. So if Jaguar doesn’t do well, and it’s not been looking great for a while, and this miscalculation might tip them over the edge , the 2 companies may either split again or Jaguar go completely.

As an owner of a Land Rover product I now feel guilty by association of being connected with this daft advertising.

For transparency I should also declare before the thread is locked that I also own an MG car as mentioned earlier in the thread, however mine is a 2005 MG ZT 260 with a 4.6 litre V8 which makes a lot of noise and does about 15 to the gallon, it’s beautiful 🥰

Last January, videos on Youtube, near where I live, of people backed up in line to get a charge for over a mile. They were in Reno, visiting that state on Holiday. It was not the lack of charging stations. Is was that every recharge was taking almost an hour for enough charge to get down I-80 to arrive in Sacramento where the weather was not sub zero Fahrenheit. The people in those videos were screaming and swearing to ditch their electric. They needed to get back to work on Monday so as not to be fired.

One day batteries that recharge in the cold will be in electrics. Some decades from now, perhaps longer.

And yet in Norway and other locations where there's a high percentage of electric cars, and super cold weather..... no issues.

I recall reading about this issue, and will have to check, but I recall charging stations nearby were having no issues. If I recall correctly, there was something about rented cars having an issue because they hadn't pre heated the battery  don't quote me... I'll have to check later when I have time.

Edit: After a few minutes Googling, it appears it was one location and when the engineers dived in for a look, they found the wrong anti-freeze had been installed.  🙄

Not entirely true, the range decreases in cold weather and charging takes longer, especially getting into -40 range, people living north of 60 have issues in sub zero conditions, but to be honest everything mechanical struggles in that cold

Oh yes, true indeed Mathew, range does reduce in cold conditions. When I said "no such issues" it was in regard to the chaos with chargers not working and long queues at the particular charging station mentioned. No such chaos occurs in other cold or colder climates. As I mentioned, from what I've read, the primary issue was that the chargers weren't properly protected from the cold with the correct antifreeze.

Wha? No! It suggests that we are all entitled to our opinions on these boards.

The calling false information “opinion” … that is NOT going to work in the real world (never has and never will).  Facts/Reality/Truth does exist … it’s why the electricity running thru complex circuits managed by software on a server with a forum application running under a web server allows for you to type your “opinion”.

Yes, you are sadly free to lie and promote false information … but why?  So you think people attempting to convey “opinion” on EVs which they have NEVER owned or used regularly have accurate “opinions”?  I’m not a doctor, but I heard if you inject bleach into your body, it’ll kill that virus that can’t be mentioned … those sort of “opinions”?

There are plenty of “theories” and “debatable” aspects to life, EVs is not one of them.  Again, I listed many benefits in EVs and you have not provided anything to suggest what I listed is debatable and not accurate.  Instead you go into some rant about “opinion”.

If you think everything qualifies as “opinion” then life is going to be difficult for you.

The moral of the cold weather fiasco is that hybrids are the sensible electrics. Toyota

How is doubling your cars complexity sensible?  I’m sure Toyota would love to sell you a maintenance plan, now you have both ICE to maintain and electric motor and batteries and fuel … great combo, fuel and batteries … what could go wrong?

Oh you mean likes these gas lines from the 1970s:

Let me see, how many gas stations were built over the past 60 years vs. number of EV chargers stations over the past 60 years?  I honestly have a hard time understanding why you and others can’t deal with reality?  I can only assume you fear change.

In my six decades on this planet I seem to have done pretty well by tolerating other peoples opinions.

I’ve also lived - and am living - through times where having opinions can lead to incarceration and much worse.  Being an older and obviously foolish person leads me to believe that denying people their opinions is actually the very edge of a slippery slope that leads to tyranny.

Meanwhile, keep on foaming at the mouth….

Exactly.

Per capita... 3500 hybrids catch fire, 1500 for petrol cars, 25 for fully electric cars.

Playing devil's advocate, but... what if that opinion is demonstrably wrong and damaging and propagated to millions as definitive fact via the internet? Does it become a highly dangerous lie rather than an opinion?

So what needs to be made great again?

Not interested in “opinions” nor “beliefs” they are roads to hate and failure.  Tyranny and opinions are not related … people in Ohio are not eating cats and dogs.  That’s a fact, not an opinion and as such is not tyrannical.  If you can’t distinguish between the two, then you are not doing well.

But again, you have not engaged in the facts I listed for Chevy Bolt EV, but have persisted in “opinion” from zero experience … and you believe this “done pretty well” and you resort to this …

How old are you?  Resorting to childish statements for the purpose of what exactly?  Doesn’t sound like you are doing “pretty well”.

This thread started by OP was initiated with the intent to express one’s insecurity with a specific target market.

What does it matter to the OP who Jaguar market to … why is this even something worth posting at AVSIM?  What’s next, advertising that U-Haul vans to men in fake uniforms with masks over their heads (so as to not be identified) that fear specific ethnic origins?

The absurdity of the original post is just more of the fear/hate mongering from insecure people.  This thread should have been killed a long time ago.  Most likely, I’ll get some warning while the OP will be permitted to continue his/her “opinion”.

If it's killed, you killed it Co2. Because you don't like publishing the issue of the obvious foolishness of Jaguar commercial launch. Which was powered by out of touch with real people predominating in Jaguar's management.
