MSFS2024 Controls Calibration

Featured Replies

Hello fellow simmers.

    I am having a problem with setting up controls.  I have watched videos on how to delete a setting on a controller.  The step is to hover over the Joystick setting where unbind shows on the bottom.  I use the backspace and it does not remove the setting.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?   I appreciate your suggestions

I have seldom opted for "going into the cogwheel", but instead over my mouse on the assigned control and hit BACKSPACE, or DELETE, and both work (???)

Regarding the LOGIC of the new assignement model in FS 2024, there are already many videos on the theme, and posts as well, but I have finally figured ot and am going to follow the assignments based on the following "framework":

1) Global / Airplane and Specific are defined according to the general type of aircraft - Airplane / Glider / Helicopter / Lighter than Air..., so, these are the upper branches of the classification tree;

2) Each aircraft model you select can have it's own settings for the assignments divided according to "General controls", "Airplane controls", "Specific <Model selected> controls", so, if you load the C172 and start creating profiles for each of your controllers and maybe for the keyboard too, unless you tick the option "Apply to all aircraft" and maybe also "Set as default", so that when you load a different aircraft this profile will appear by default with the exact same assignments you have created for the C172.

3) When you want to create controls for a specific aircraft, the best thing to do will probably be to inherit the control assignments from the base you have progated to all airplanes, Duplicate it (there's that option in the cogwheel), change the name of the profile to a name that will allow you to easily identify the profile is specific to that new aircraft or class of aircraft, and create the custom assignments there, saving it without checkeing the "Apply to all aircraft" option.

Can look complex at start, but it's actually intuitive, I have to accept, once you get the idea 🙂

Hello,I have an issue where, on the walk around, I cannot click with mouse to remove chocks and covers, all I have is the mouse view control with my track ball. Thanks in advance for any help.

In my case, I had to press "C" to crouch then walk forward to actually get to the click spot. Hope that is the solution for you.

if you have the white dot c;lickspots on, walk towards the item until the dot pulsates, then you can click it. If you don't use the clickspot dots, you just have to walk close enough so the mouse will change to a pointing hand and/or you see the name of the item popup - then you can click.

Thank you for responding.  I appreciate your input, but I hit backspace and Delete it does not delete the setting?   I duplicate and clear all the settings and when I log back in they are back?   So I was wondering other then Backspace or delete i don't know why it does not work.  I think I need to file a bug on MS FS Forum?

Disregard - figured it out

Are you accessing the Controller menu through the main menu or when in a flight? The latter may interfere with your key bindings After you hit fly now. In either case it helped me to click on the line of the respective setting/binding first. Turn move your mouse over the binding to delete. Then hit backspace. Works for me

@DAD  that is my problem.  I do what you said and then hit backspace and binding stays intact.   No I am not flying at least until I can get my controllers set up.  So do from Controller menu from the main menu

This gives a nice detail of the UI for controls. The only way I can watch Simhangar videos tho is to change the playback speed on Youtube to 1.5 to 2 as he talks so slow.
