Still non existant for the default ones.

Has anyone tried the Global Airport lights file from flightsim.to. Cant remember the name.

The taxiway lights are insane though. They're so bright they can be seen from space...

I really hope the intensity of them gets dialled down on an update. I have my night rating IRL and airports are surprisingly not that easy to spot from the air until you're quite close. In the sim you can see the blue lights at least 30 miles out.

Yea I went back into 2020 and xplane12 just to verify. I still like the xplane lighting for taxi and runway. I love the taxi signs in 2024.

Airport night lights are worse than in 2020 and need to be addressed. Blue taxiway lights especially have fuzzy pinkish hue that is absolutely look wrong !

I had my first solo night landing in KPHX.  I remember when about 15 feed above ground it was a black hole and I did a terrible landing that made the plane jump a couple of times. I had the hope that msfs 2020 would make me repeat that experience. But no, ground was perfectly visible.

In such a brilliant looking sim, I just don't understand how they can get these basics so wrong.
There seems to be a disconnect in the way they think somehow.
It has been like this with Asobo from the start.
It is one of the most frustrating things about them - do the difficult stuff but leave the simple.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Haha yes I had a similar experience! I did my night solo circuits at Southend EGMC, and the first landing I did was a full on pancake carrier style landing. Flared a good 10 feet off the ground and full on stalled it onto the runway. It shook the hell out of the plane! The rest of them were great though!

haha, my first and most of night landings IRL were pretty fine. But one night I flew the 152 and for the first landing I flared too high and landed really hard with a boom. Luckily I'm not the owner of the airplane (it's a club plane), otherwise I'd have a hard time to sleep that night thinking how much that poor 152 must be hurt...  Of course the plane flies fine to date, I didn't break it.

Agree the taxiway lights in 2024 is way overdone. Their brightness should be turned down by 10x.

Also, forgot whether 2020/2024 models pilot-controlled lighting airports? It can be magical that you click seven times CTAF radio and seeing from the air the airport lights up on the pitch black ground. First time I did that it's almost mesmerizing.
