MSFS2024_AutoFPS for MSFS 2024

1.0.3.0 doesn't work well for me, I'm afraid - the previous versions did. Sits in the task bar, changes some LOD settings in MSFS 2024 (it turns out), but the window never pops up - so can't make any changes.

Can you elaborate on that? I only changed the logic in the last update.

In the old(er) version, I would launch the program and the window would disappear, but leave an icon in the taskbar/overflow. Right clicking on it would bring up some options - one of which was "Show window". This would then pop up a fully active window, where you could make all the usual tweaks.

With this version,  the window opens, creates the taskbar icon, but then remains open - but blank. When right clicking the taskbar icon, the "Show window" is inoperative.

I'll try another re-install.

can we please get the option for a silent start and to minimize to tray

OK - I have it working now (!). However - once the program is closed, MSFS settings are left where AutoFPS left them. Is it possible to revert back to the old settings on closing? Could this be made an option?

even after a complete uninstall of msfs2024 and deleting all possible register entries which had anything to do with msfs 2020 or 2024 (limitless) , followed with a fresh install of 2024 and the latest AutoFPS version, the problem remains the same: sim and Autofps are connected (all is 'green'), but the TLOD and OLOD do not change, the clouds always show as 'low' in the app. Probably still something on the computer that confuses the app, but I have ran out of ideas..

Everytime I update the app, the settings revert to "default" values or something other than what I set them. I now keep a screenshot of my settings because I don't know when they will be deleted again...

For what feels like the 100th time, let me clear up the confusion about this situation. When MSFS 2024 was released, Reset initially stated that he wouldn’t be updating his app because of the platform's immaturity at that time (you can check his post in the AutoFPS 2020 thread). If he had announced that he was planning to update the app, I would have waited.

Since I really wanted the app to work with MSFS 2024, I decided to make it compatible myself. Afterward, I thought, "Hmm, maybe others would benefit from this too?" So, I shared my work on my GitHub.

Then Reset reached out to ask how I got the app working with MSFS 2024. That’s when we started collaborating to make both of our apps functional again after the MSFS update caused issues. Reset later published his updated apps, and that brings us to where we are now.

Thanks to both of you for your apps

Which version would be better for a VR user like me?

This app was created to ensure continued access to the functionalities of the original Auto FPS app after its developer, reset_xpdr, announced they would no longer be developing it. My goal was to adapt the app for compatibility with the new 2024 SIM version and provide the community with an updated solution.

Initially, I worked independently to make the app functional, but later collaborated with the original developer to ensure proper integration. While reset_xpdr expressed interest in updating their app for compatibility, they stated they would not be adding new features and directed users to my app for improvements.

Over time, my version introduced enhancements, particularly in VR functionality, which led to some confusion in the community about which app to use. The original developer clarified that users could stick with their version for the original experience or use my app for additional features.

Recently, I’ve noticed that reset_xpdr's app has incorporated some new ideas and is now actively being developed, despite their earlier statement. To avoid unnecessary competition and confusion, and to focus on my growing family (my 3-month-old son, who has become my top priority) I’ve decided to stop developing my app, as it is no longer needed

Thank you to everyone who supported this effort!

Thank you KayJay your efforts were very much welcomed and (in my brief 2024 time before I put ti down) needed! All the best for the future 🙂
