Maybe it's only me, but for some reason I haven't figured out the MSFS controllers programming fully. It seems to do strange things if I reset a simple command, and then a lot of them stops working.

Anyway, assigning commands with AAO is a lot simpler and doesn't give me these issues.

Not even trying to do assignments for MSFS2024 without A&O. Been using exclusively for 2+ years with MSFS2020.

In my case, I'm doing it with SPAD.next. But I agree that A&O or SPAD makes mapping the controls easier and allows for more comprehensive functionality. As an added bonus, I didn't even have to create new profiles for a lot of my aircraft. The profiles I created for MSFS2020 just worked in 2024.

I'll never go back to mapping controls directly in the sims.

Even though I'm very happy with SPAD, I am tempted to give A&O a try just to see for myself how it compares. 

Can you still have a blank profile in your controller in MS2024 so it does not conflict with AAO?

Not used default assignments since 2004! FSUIPC then AAO and some Spad.

Yes. 

Can highly recommend it!!

Beside pure assigning you can do nearly everything with it, especially with StreamDecks.

E.g. I haven't seen the GSX panel since years, all controlled with StreamDeck.

And you can assign own scripts to your hardware, endless possibilities.

YES

AAO cannot directly program all of msfs commands. Only some of them.

Generally speaking, AAO does not program any MSFS commands. The MSFS controller assignments and what AAO is allowed to do with SimConnect/the MSFS SDK are two completely different things. While some items have similar names, they are not related at all. But there is always a way, just not the direct one. 
Important note: when working with MSFS (20 or 24), the sims prefer Axis Events (second box from the top) over Variables (first box). 

Regarding assignments IMO the real benefit of an app like this is that you can implement controls for all the knobs, buttons and levers in the cockpit that don't exist in the MSFS controller assignments, and that could otherwise only be operated with the mouse.

But that's something I never learned how to do. Nor have a clue how to learn. Reading the FAQ's was all Greek to me.

For many addons there are already scripts you can download.

My StreamDeck profiles have always scripts included which could be also assigned to any hardware with AAO.

Or how could you assign Fenix EFIS range knob with standard MSFS assignments as example?

It's not that hard. What makes it tricky is that all aircraft developers do things differently. Maybe it will improve with MSFS 2024, where it seems that more native Input Events are in use.

And then there are people who create script packages that you can import into the app. Those packages are available for download on the Net. For example, when you see a StreamDeck profile for your aircraft, there usually is a script package in there too, that you can use. Scripts a basically hardware agnostic, and what works for a StreamDeck button will work just the same for a joystick and MIDI button.

It is the best! I just made a backup of my MSFS2020 setup and everything loaded flawlessly in MSFS2024 AAO version.

Did not have to setup anything on my Mcp again and could start flying immediately with the Fenix A320.
