December 11, 20241 yr Commercial Member Just flew last night Thranda Beaver + REP combo, in trusty XP11, after many months of break. I was too busy with HotStart TBM, Toliss, and testing other sim(s) for whatever sake. What can I say? These engine starts, engine splutters on low RPMs until all cylinders started working, is just music to my ears. Feels like a real breathing machine. Slowly taxing to the runway, add throttle up to 50-60% like in the real Beaver, feel the rumble of that beautiful Wasp, and the Beaver just wants to fly. You are already in the air. Bring down RPM to 2000 and start to climb slowly. Flaps up on cruising altitude, RPM to 1800/1900. I enjoyed every, not second, not moment, I literally enjoyed every frame of the experience. It felt so real, even with XP11 obsolete visuals (although my XP11 looks pretty good with my sky textures and modified colors, ZL17 ortho). I also fly in VR, so the immersion is through the roof. There is no addon in other sims (excluding XP12 version of the Beaver), that can deliver even 30% of that flying immersion, that can make you feel you are really behind the yoke of the machine like Beaver is. P.S. I just remembered that Milviz has a really good taildragger, and I remember clearly, it flies, sounds and feels awesome too - DHC-3 Turbo Otter. I'm not sure is it on sale anymore, and where. Truth to be told, I had no idea either. Stumbled across this video, watched the review, and the aircraft seems to be very good. Shame it's not selling anymore. "We are pleased to announce that vFlyteAir Simulations has acquired the rights to the Milviz DHC-3T Turbo Otter for X-Plane!" https://www.vflyteair.com/vFlyteAir-DHC-3T-Turbo-Otter.php Yes, it seems that's the one! Never thought vFlyteAir got the Milviz plane. Now I can freely say go get that one, it's awesome. "Overwhelmingly good. This a great and versatile aircraft that can be flown with both land and water operations. I loved the ease of which you could set up and fly the aircraft, on flight the aircraft is very, very good, nicely balanced and a lovely machine to fly, and it is also easy for the novice flyer. Obviously the aircraft has come from the FSX/P3D stable and it shows in the aircraft's detailing and interior, but the conversion has been masterly done and via our own vFlyteAir, so no stone or performance was missed. Sounds and flight model here is highly rated. Feature wise the Turbo Otter is very good as well, but not over featured in menu choices and menu's (one), but the various choice of variants are well done, water and water effects are sensational... manual (one) is excellent in providing aircraft information, details and performance charts. Avionic package choices are another highlight with RealityXP GNS availablity as well So yes, I totally loved MilViz's DHC-3T Turbo Otter and highly recommend the aircraft" Edited December 12, 20241 yr by Pe11e Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
December 13, 20241 yr Caution: The Turbo Otter was last updated in 2020 and thus may not work correctly in X-Plane 12! Looking into the support forum, there has been talk about an update since 2022, but two years later, absolutely nothing seems to have materialized! Just found a video of the model working correctly in XP12 (probably): Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

(One would not spend money on a car that nobody is going to maintain either.) Is XP12 the only option? Of course not, and maybe even not the best option. OP never mentioned XP12, so can I say that I'm enjoying XP11 a lot more, because it is the sim that never let me down? Perfect performance, great stability, a lot of quality addons (in this case taildraggers), etc etc. The fact that many people decided to go with XP12, and complain about weather, clouds, and other unfinished features, is strictly their choice. Not to mention bad VR implementation, that needs a lot of optimization. So, for me XP11 is now the best sim, bar none. I just bought a REP package for XP11 aircraft few days ago, should I be called crazy? What I enjoy, I will spend money on it, and it's too early to do the same in XP12. December 17, 20241 yr I can understand all perspectives, specially when justified... The friend of mine who is a senior airline captain and, due to a hiatus in is pilot career caused by an health problem, started using flight simulators, began with P3D and the FSLabs airbuses, which are still his preferred, then XP11, with the Toliss 319, and finally FS 2020. Last time we talked in the phone - he is returning to activity as an A321LR / 320 captain - he told me that FSLabs A320 is still is goto solution for RW trainning / proficiency / familiarization with procedures, although he also uses the Toliss and the Fenix. Having a purpose is the key to satisfaction. I actually have only one simulator that satisfies my requirements in as far as simulating soaring flight goes - Condorsoaring v3. But flying tasks in Condor can take longer than an LEMD - LPPT flight in XP12, or FS 2024, so I end up using more XP12 with the Toliss 321 and FS 2024 with the Fenix 320, now with BATC. But I am enjoying the latest developments of ATC in XP12, so, I am finding myself even playing more XP12 lately 🙂 If I decide to practice ATC I may go Say Intentions, but have to really think about it carefully because it's rather expensive ! Regarding taildragger simulation, my only option goes to XP12. Maybe in the future ASOBO can find some way to update their poor ground physics and the modelling of taildraggers with or without castoring tailwheels, but for now XP12 does the job good enough ! My only complaint is regarding toe brake effects in xp12 - no matter how I try to define curves to fine tune it, it's always too intense... In that respect MSFS does a better job IMO...
