JPLogistics Cessna 152 now works in FS2024 incl. AP

Featured Replies

Just reporting that after the FS2024 patch of 11 December the JPLogistics Cessna 152 works for 99% in the new sim. All instruments incl. autopilot and transponder finally get electrical power.

Enjoy!

Sorry, I have to ask, what's the 1% that doesn't work?

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

Compared to FS2020 the aircraft still suffers from the same tiny issues many other GA planes, incl. the native ones, did prior to the patch:

- external lights are so weak during a daytime that it's almost impossible to notice them,

- internal cockpit lights can be switched on, but have no effect on the dashboard in daytime (some say this has been fixed for native planes now?),

- pilot not visible from outside (all imported planes only).

Very minor issues, but a superb plane to fly and I am especially happy the Bendix King KA140 (?) autopilot is operational again! 🙂

Thanks for the detailed reply 🙂

The JPL 152 is a great model and my second favourite GA aircraft next to the Comanche.

No, that's not needed and also not possible. The v2.0.6 version has been the latest one for a long time (November 2022, I believe).

Just click on the tablet inserted between seats. It then floats on the dashboard. You can then select your instruments, that you wish to use. And the autopilot is on of them. Good luck! 🤞

Ya, that's what I've done but refuses to cooperate. Oh well...

From their discord :

1)

If it's the blocking panels not hiding correctly, it is caused by fs2024 not accepting 3d model node names with periods in them. I was able to do a test fix for that issue by editing those names in the xml and in the gltf file.

search and replace: MainPanel.003 to MainPanel_003 and MainPanel.010 to MainPanel_010 in the cockpit/interior xml and gltf files in the model folder. May or may not need to regenerate the layout.json after that, as FS2024 is a bit sensitive on that.

2)

look for INSTRUMENT_Needle_Heading_Cylinder_1.001 and change to INSTRUMENT_Needle_Heading_Cylinder_1_001

2 instances, one in the model/cessna152_interior.xml and the other in the cockpit gltf file.

I previously (before MSFS 2024 1.2.7.0) followed these instructions and the AP and XPDR became usable.

This mod and Discord seems to have disappeared, is this mod still available anywhere??

I tried the AP fix but could not find “INSTRUMENT_Needle_Heading_Cylinder_1.001” in the referenced files. I also don’t know how to generate the layout.json file so it caused the interior not to load within the sim. The Discord link doesn’t work either so it looks like this plane will only be used for pattern work unless the dev decides to update it which doesn’t appear likely. Too bad because it is doesn’t need many changes to make it brilliant in 2024!

Yes the discord has moved to the wbsim discord.

You dont need to regenerate the layout.json

The files are located under the model folder in the jpl_c152 that you installed in your community folder. There are two files, cockpit.xml and interior.gltf (or cockpit.gltf and interior.xml, i dont recall exactly) that needs to be edited

Hi. I've copy the jplogistics c152 folder from the community folder in msfs 2020 to the msfs 2024 folder.

When I try to select inside msfs 2024 the jplogistics c152 aircraft, only the "tail drag" version is visible.

How can I select the default c152 with "nose rudder"?

Thanks a lot.

It is under the "original default" C152. Find something like "Textron Aviation C152" and then configure the plane. You will find all variants there, both default FS2024 and JPLogistics. At least I have it like that.

And yes, there's no logic in that in FS2024. But when the proper update of C152 JPL gets published (I can't wait:-))it might be better.

I've been using the JPL 152 in MSFS 2024 without any major problems. It seems there will be a new version for 2024 soon though.
