Pilatus PC-12 NG - PLEA to Carenado

Featured Replies

You know, mostly I really like this plane, the avionics are a bit of a pain to deal with, but hey, I tried my usual RNAV/VNAV test flight, and this bird passes, once at an altitude with an approach defined, so an IAF, it not only correctly calculates TOD, but provided you arm things properly, it auto descends when it gets there, and then when reaching the IAF you hit APR and you get an LPV approach. This is more than SWS can say, it has no VNAV, so ya, you have to do advisory, its not a big deal, that I can handle, but what annoys me is that when you get to IAF it does NOT do an approach. Oh, I should say that I am talking about the SWS in 2020.

The biggest problem to me in the Carenado in 2024, is the autothrottle, my god it drives me nuts, LOL, winds up and down, up and down during climb, it seems ok in cruise, but again in descent it was being annoying, I finally turned it off, tried to control it manually, still gave me some fits, but hey, it did the approach and landing was fine.

I would like to see the SWS in 2024, but with an "upgrade" (something I would do if I actually owned one IRL 🙂) to the autopilot so it was VNAV capable, I believe there's a RW Garmin option that an owner could have installed. SO do that, match the functionality in the NG and I'd be happy.

But please Carenado, I hope you're listening, fix the autothrottle and short term I'll fly this.

First off: You have to plead with Microsoft, not Carenado. Like the people at IniBuilds already said: All features and bugfixes in any of the default planes are contractually subject to the decisions at Microsoft. Microsoft decides what gets fixed and what is added.

Second: I have flown the PC12 only once so far and saw absolutely no erroneous behaviour on part of the autothrust. And even if I had, I would have just flown it without Autothrottle instead. Like the Hondajet in MSFS for example where you can decide whether you want to fly a version equipped with an AT or without it.

So an AT acting up would not stop me from flying an aircraft.

OH well gee, I guess next time I have a problem, I'll just ask you, and if you haven't seen a problem it must be ok, huh? Does that make sense, because after all, no one else in the world has a different system, does things differently, or is set up differently....

.... and besides you've flown it ONCE, and so your god-like pontification on the matter just stands out as the result of your wealth of experience on the matter...

Funny, how you skipped the important part, that Carenado is not the one to ask.

And I have flown it 3 more times today. No oscillating AT at all. And like I said, even it it had oscillated, just switch it off and don't pretend the plane is unflyable without.

Go away

He corrected who you need to persuade to update the aircraft AND let you know he doesn't have a problem with the auto throttle - which may help you in finding out why you have a problem with it.

Instead of thanking him for the help, you go major sarcastic!

There were so many different ways this thread could have gone and instead it’s “old man screams at sky again, angrily berates neighbors who tell him there’s nothing there”

Write a bug post on the MSFS main forums, Bug Section.

And yes my PC12 and 24 auto throttle speeds up and down quickly...  but they both have many bugs so I'd expect a fix will take some time.

Yeah, I made the mistake of buying the Carenado PC12 a few years back. Never liked it, too many bugs, no fixes....no responses. Gave up on it. Tried it again about 8 months ago...still issues. So when it was ported over from 2020 I am not surprised its still a pig with some different shade of lip stick on it.

As far as this? This is simply unwarranted and annoying.

There are about 3 of you on this site that troll or instigate trolling. Or argue for arguments sake.

We are sick of it.
