What are you faffing about with?  I was always faffing about in 2020 for the whole four years it was out.  2024 has been a completely different story for me after the first week.  Load up, fly, shut down for the most part.

Lucky old you. 😁

Correct, the original title was Cache Size.

  • Don't blame lxoie.  I edited the title when he called me out on it. BTW, I have mine set to 96GB.  My concern is the less I have to stream, the quicker it will load.  I have 2TB to work with.

In network settings->advanced->data usage you can see how much data the sim has used.

I'd set my cache size based upon that.

That's actually a very good idea. I've been flying A LOT lately, and my MSFS2024 data usage over the last week is 120GB. But in addition to this, the Map Enhancement mod has used 64GB.

I'm going to watch a movie now 😅

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the rolling cache mystery.

Captain Piett, after some time has passed, do you have any additional thoughts on the rolling cache? Have you noticed that any particular size works better for you than other sizes?

To be honest, I have no idea if 100GB is any better than 10GB...

I think most stutters are with Programetry set to on, for MSFS2024 a to high LOD and Programetry on is about still the same Problem as with MSFS2020.

And i think this would be always a Game/Simulator Killer..

cheers 😉

Am I alone in spending more time 'faffing' about with ~24 than doing any flying? I'm caught in a cycle of 'I wonder if this works' or 'I wonder why this doesn't work' Occasionally I hit a 'Yay! That works!' Having sorted that out, I go and watch a movie. Another work day over. 😂

I agree with you 100%.  In the early days of TV when the sets had all those controls on  the back, my dad spent all his time trying to get a better picture.  He hardly ever watch a TV show.

Now I find myself doing the exact same thing with my flight simulator. I spend more time tweaking than I do flying.

I heard that you could get three fps if you go to the config file and blah, blah, blah...

I never used a rolling cache in msfs2020.  In msfs2024 I've tried 16, 24, 32 and 64 GB and found no difference with any of these settings.
