After loading, I select Free Flight, then I type in Dep: KLAX  Arr: KORD.  (an example. It happens everywhere). Then the map loads with the spinning circle lower right side on screen.

This situation lasts forever. After 15 minutes it will somtimes load me onto the taxyway, ready for departure. Most times it will not. So what am I doing wrong? Settings ??

Any help appreciated.

 

An important question, but I have no answer because that has never happened to me even once.

I haven't had this either. Default aircraft or third party? 

I've had this issue several times, and every time it ended up being a livery or scenery addon

What map do you mean? Does the Free flight map load to show KLAX and KORD or did you press Fly and does the actual loading of the flight het stuck?

What if you only enter de departure airport? Doubt it will make a change but there is no real need to add the arrival airport on that map. I only use the map to position myself for the start of the flight and never enter an arrival. All the planning is done via the EFB.

+1. I’ve only had this with scenery addons. Once removed, it loads fine.

Default Asobo Aircraft.

Default Aircraft. Even tried with empty community folder. Same result.

After I enter on the Departure point I am presented with a map overlay and the sim just hangs there. Maybe this is only a Stream thing?? 

On the occasions when it works, my aircraft sits at the taxyway ready for departure.  Also, when I want to leave the sim, I click on "Quit to Desktop" but nothing happens. CTL-ALT-DEL to exit the sim.  So glad I did not uninstall FS2020.

So you said you were using default aircraft and an empty community folder, right?  Also, the airport that you are using, is that a marketplace airport that you purchased? If it's a marketplace airport that  you purchased, try disabling it in the Content Manager.

Finally, delete your rolling cache.  My understanding is, if you downloaded some data using the rolling cache in the first week of using MSFS 2024, it may have caused some problems.  So if you delete your rolling cache, you will start from scratch again and that may fix some of the problems.
