January 23, 20251 yr This card doubles as an air fryer, jeez. I was hoping it would deliver higher performance but run more efficiently than the 4090.
January 23, 20251 yr So what will it do to MSFS over a 4090 is probably all I want to know. By the way, as MSFS isn't always included in performance comparison reviews which popular game is remotely even close to MSFS in graphic card usage/requirement that could give a clue to flight sims performance.?

January 24, 20251 yr Jay seems to be suggesting that greater than the 1000 watt Nvidia PSU spec might be a good idea. Yikes! Huge cost! 5080 might make more sense. Looking forward to the reviews of that baby. I see that the 4090 is currently at a horrendous price. 🙄
January 24, 20251 yr Author One thing seems for sure, VR users will benefit from it. I am more than happy with my 4090 performance so I'm not in the market. But if I build a new simpit for VR, its good to know that cards are being made that benefit a VR setup. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi
January 25, 20251 yr Not sure if you’re aware, but here’s a review of the RTX 5090 done by Techtesters. GeForce RTX 5090 Review - 45 Games Tested (4K, 1440p, 1080p + DLSS 4) She did the tests with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3D CPU system, since that’s the fastest gaming CPU today. All the other specs for her test system are included below on that page. As the title says, she evaluated the performance for 4K, 1440p and 1080p monitors. In addition, she conducted a series of retests using an RTX 4090 and an AMD Radeon RX 79000 XTX, since that’s the fastest GPU that AMD currently has, and those results are included for comparison with the 5090 ones. As the title also says, she conducted tests on 45 games. Of great interest to me, and I presume you, one of the 45 was FS 2020 and a second was FS 2024. At (4+25) she starts showing detailed FPS results for the first game on her list – Alan Wake 2, which is not relevant to our community, but will give you an idea about the form in which she collected the individual results. At (8+15), she introduces performance summaries for all 45 games, and each summary page includes “Microsoft Flight Simulator - Ultra” (presumably FS 2020 running at ultra settings) and “Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 - Ultra” (FS 2024 on ultra). At (9+55), she switches to show results in % rather than FPS, but again includes the two FS results. She notes, on a number of occasions that some of results, and FS 2020 and FS 2024, in particular, are CPU-limited, which our community understands very well. Later she has good observations about Frame Generation and DLSS, and particularly the fact that DLSS 4 will be of great benefit to users of FS 2020 and FS 2024. She doesn’t mention anything about this, but hopefully she will be conducting similar tests with an RTX 5080 in the next week or so, and present the results in a video when Nvidia lets those come out. I have to make a decision between those two GPUs for use with a new system that will be virtually identical to the one she used. I am planning to use it to run FS 2024. Jon
