Can someone enlighten me as to why I can't configure any external switch to the parking brake in the COWS DA-40XLS, no FSUIPC,no MSFS and no A&Ohs? I downloaded, what I understand to be an update today, which I thought included a fix for this issue. Or am I missing something?

The documentation says to use the keyboard assigned key (in my case, the G key) used to normally  toggle the landing gear. It sounds like you are using an external (or keyboard) accessory key which has not been assigned that function.

The G key does not work, neither does any assignment via FSUIPC, A&Ohs or indeed MSFS itself. I think I'll check out their Discord channel and ask there. I thought perhaps it was something obvious where someone here could have helped with.

Just scraping the barrel, do you have rudder pedals with toe brakes? Some planes need both toe brakes pressed down fully for the parking brake to work. For on that is. To turn off the key itself should work or pressing both foot brakes often also works.

I fiddled with that one as well, found out it's a LVAR setting: set LVAR:INPUT_PARK to 1 / 0. 1=switched on - 0=off. (Spad)

Seems crazy that we have rto go to all this trouble to assign via different methods for things which are rudimentary. Thanks for this. I'll try and sort it. As for your toe brakes, I'm not at my sim at the moment, but I think I configured those in MSFS. Can't be completely sure. But I did get them working either via MS, FSUIPC or A&Ohs!

Sure, tried this Russell, thanks. I'll revisit your suggestion though, maybe there's some 'finger trouble' at my end!

I'm using default parking brake (setup in MSFS 2024) - works for me

That is pretty much all of us. LOL I have a problem with my setup and Flysimware Learjet, no one can figure out so far!  My elevator trim binding simply doesn't work. Go figure. LOL

I think you have to press the foot brakes to use the parking brake.

It's annoying, happened to me in the Sierra C24R. I don't know what causes this, must be the sim. The trim in the Sierra works with a Simconnect event in Spad or AAO: ELEV_TRIM_DN / _UP. I had to fiddle with the static value to make it work. As Rocky mentioned, shouldn't be like that for the basics.

Sure, thanks. Tried that, but I am going to revisit the issue very shortly, just to see if I've missed something.
