Interestingly, they are not releasing this for MSFS 2020. They are taking advantage of the new features in MSFS 2024, that don't exist in MSFS 2020. I honestly didn't expect this from a scenery add-on.  I understand that aircraft add-ons have all sorts of new features and capabilities in MSFS 2024. I didn't know that scenery add-ons also have a lot of new features and capabilities in MSFS 2024 that don't exist in MSFS 2020.

The improved LOD system is one. There's also bunch of new ground vehicle and passenger boarding features, not sure if this is going to take advantage of those.

2024 also has a native VDGS, but I'm not sure how it works, and I doubt they're using that.

It's an upgrade to an existing 2020 scenery making it 2024 compatible and enhanced, they are doing this with pretty much all their sceneries and charging for them.  I get an email from them pretty much weekly with all the 2024 scenery now available.  Not sure why this is such a big deal to some that a 2024 upgrade would be for 2024 only LOL.  It's far from the first one they have done.  Nothing too "interesting" about it, not sure why it's so "unexpected"  🤷‍♂️

They also need to justify for paying for the same scenery especially when theoretically you could copy a 2020 version over or link to it 😉

Anything listed as "enhanced" I believe

No one in this thread has said this is unexpected

But yeah, 'Enhanced' sceneries have upgrades and are made natively in the 2024 SDK but aren't complete rebuilds.

Premium airports are built from scratch or have major upgrades.

Compatible airports are just 2020 versions patched to make them more compatible with 2024, but are still 2020 SDK built airports.

Not you, you had quoted them but someone mentioned they didn't expect this from a scenery add-on which I did find surprising LOL.  I started getting the emails from them almost as soon as 2024 was released, almost like they had some sort of early access 😉  They had a bunch they had redone the textures and LOD almost simultaneous to the release.

As you mentioned and were spot on:

That's because they did have early access.  Paul I mean I figure you know that and might be joking around (hard to tell on internet, even with the emoji), but in case you aren't...

They, along with many other developers, were first-party devs and yes they were working with MSFS2024 before its release.  That's how their A320, and for example the Carenado planes etc. are in MSFS2024 by default.

Nice to get the upgrade price if you already own the scenery for 2020.

I'm not running 2024 (yet) but will still grab it lol

Oh boy…performance is pretty horrendous with the new version.

Fwiw, it's sub 5 quid if you already own the scenery. Hardly a killing on either end.
Despite that, I copied over my 2020 scenery and it works fine, so more options for the customer, which is a win all round in my book.

Keep the blue part on top...

if you're using the free iniBuilds Dubai landmarks for 2020 make sure to delete them before installing the new 2024 OMDB as the landmarks uses the same folder name so it may conflict.

Also make sure to delete 2020 OMDB's GSX profile. 2024's uses a different file name so it won't overwrite I imagine.

I was indeed joking hence the winky smiley but it is indeed tough to tell some time I agree!

@ZLA Steve completely agree, most of them are only a few bucks!
