Hi Ray. SloppyMusic keeps attacking me, over and over again. I bit my lip in the past.  And here I just talk about my positive experience with MSFS, how I feel that I got a good deal, especially being able to spend less and get the Standard Version of MSFS 2024 but get the benefits of the Premium Deluxe version. And here SloppyMusic is attacking me again.

I can't say anything positive about MSFS 2024 without SloppyMusic having to personally attack me.

Attacking you personally is against forum rules. Attacking (challenging is a better word) you if you state facts you know to be true is unwise. Facts are facts and cannot be disputed if known to be correct.

The grey area is opinion. We’re all entitled to one and there are no right or wrong ones. Just different. 😉

If you feel anyone is attacking you for expressing an opinion then report them and we’ll have a look.

Seems like SloppyMusic was calling me a car salesman:

Quote

To call you biased would be an understatement. If you walked into a car dealership and asked the salesman why the 2024 model is different to your 2018 model you'd get a one sided sales pitch too.

But AVSIM is not supposed to be an auto dealership full of characters like that unpopular figure, the car salesman

And I didn't even say anything to SloppyMusic or interact with him before in this thread. He just comes out of nowhere and says stuff like this to me.  All I did was respond to Ricardo41's post, I said I agreed with Ricardo41's post, and shared my own story of how I saved money.

But they’re the same car. Your point would be more relevant if a customer was trying to choose between Ford and Toyota as two random choices and the salesman clearly showed a bias without facts to backup his claim.

In comparing P3D and MSFS both pros and cons have to be shown leaving the customer free to make a decision based on facts.

That’s how forums work. See my response to his post.

Does this also apply to the P3D section of the forum ? It doesn't feel so 🙂 (just an opinion, of course...)

If someone using MSFS was curious about P3D then yes. Of course they could ask questions. In the P3D forum of course, not here.

Exactly! Also how are P3d and msfs the SAME CAR?! Not even same manufacturer. 2020/2024 yes but the thread IS p3d/msms?

I've already commented on that. If you have a beef with another member take it to a PM please. Your posts to each other don't help the OP with a decision.

I don't have any 'beef' with ANY member. Only certain posts. The post is asking to make the switch easier from p3d not to say how amazing the new sim is. You could spend all day on YouTube SEEING the difference yourself but that's not what he asked. I'm assuming but correct me OP if I'm wrong that:

He wants to know how a P3dv5 user (like him and me) can switch over to be an MSFS user(like me) with the least amount of effort (learning new control schemes for example). ie use FSUIPC in P3D then copy your setup to v7 which is 'relatively' painless.

2020 or 2024 also. Is that clarified by the OP since the original post?

I have MSFS2020 downloaded and ready to go in its out-of-the-box state, but everytime I load it up, it feels like it's just a game. I think I'm just too used to the way FSX and P3D were, in that they were just raw flight sims that cared about nothing other than flying airplanes and making the world your own. At the same time, the visuals in MSFS are simply too gorgeous to ignore and not smile at. I'm also annoyed at how different the keybinds are as compared to FSX/P3D. I also put so much money into all the addons that make P3D feel life-like, so moving away from it feels pointless, in that regard.

I feel the topic itself has gone way off umm topic as it were.

Expressing an opinion on MSFS is not unreasonable.

Here's what the OP posted...

I'm having the hardest time getting myself to make the big switch from Prepar3dv5 to MSFS2020/24. At the same time, the visuals in MSFS are simply too gorgeous to ignore...

If I was to offer any advice it would be "if in doubt, do now't".

I'd also suggest buying the older version is probably not worth it. Eventually you would probably upgrade so the cost increases as does learning the differences between 2020 and 2024 of which there are plenty.

I'd hold fire until 2024 is stable and then it may be an easier decision. Another option is to keep P3D, buy 2024 and choose which you want for the type of flight. IFR=P3D, VFR=MSFS. Plenty here have both.
