Bullit...

Featured Replies

Another one of my favorites and I just saw it again this afternoon on TCM.

Filmed in my home town of San Francisco I enjoy the famous car chase scenes which includes a lot of locations I remember as a boy growing up in that city.

But another chase scene in that movie that is seldom mentioned is the foot chase across the taxiways and tarmac of San Francisco International Airport around and under taxiing B707s and B737s.

I'll bet I have seen Bullit almost a dozen times.  But the next time it is one the schedule I'll watch it yet again.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Do you know, I don't think I've seen Bullit.

Last night I watched the whole of Dune 2. Boy is that a long movie. I'd only watched half before.

True, with editing it could have been trimmed down to a couple of hours but I really enjoyed it.

I just watched Bullet last week. One of my favorites too. Steve McQueen is my favorite tough guy simply because he is the most believable. Most of Clint Eastwood characters were a little over the top though not all. I mean one man outdrawing four, come on. John Wayne had no flexibility as an actor. No matter his character he was always John Wayne.
One of my favorite flying movies is McQueen in the little known flick “The War Lover” especially the first part when his crew prepares for a raid and his crew is mounted up while he stands in front of his plane taking in the morning air watching for the green go flair from the tower.

I like that one too.  Especially the end where after the crew bail's out he flies into the white cliffs of Dover.

McQueen is also the coolest guy in The Great Escape.  As long as he has his baseball nothing much bothers him.

That was a great movie.

And just how cool was Steve McQueen in that movie. He had very little dialog because his face and action said it all. But I agree, the airport on foot chase scene was a beauty, funny too that apparently cops could just walk up and down the aisle of a boarding 707 looking for their man as a normal course of their duty. Great Movie!!

His military stint as a Marine would make a great movie too.

here is an interesting read on the making of The War Lover. There was a fatality filming the bail out scene when one of the jumpers drown. Tells of the search for some operating B17 s and how they would repaint them to look like different forts.
