Navigraph: 86% of "serious X-Plane simmers" prefer v12 :)

Featured Replies

The Navigraph survey is obviously dominated by ToS, but there IS Good News for X-Plane pilots: the vast majority of us seem to have transitioned to v12 in not too long a period of time! 🙂

Last year, Navigraph didn't even differentiate between v11 & v12, so i'm not sure what the 12-mo increase has been, but it would seem v12 is doing fine while looking & running far better than v11.

I remember not too long ago when a fair few people were expressing doubts and negativity, but that seems to have generally evaporated. And even the Betas seem to be running well and releasing rapidly.

Yeah, there is a clear majority using XP12 over XP11 now. By the way, last year's survey also differentiated beetween all XP-versions (even mentionning XP10 if I'm not mistaken) 🙂
You have to look at the detailed survey.

i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

I am fully on XP12 now and XP11 has been removed for as long as XP12 has been out, it's such a massive difference. Unfortunately, I am lamenting the loss of 3 great aircraft that sometimes makes me think about reinstalling XP11 just for them in addition to XP12, but I stop myself every time... Those are Felis TU-154, FlyJSim's 737-200 and FlyJSim 727.

Im back on XP11 for the moment.... because the VR experience is so vastly superior.

And as much as XP12 is orders of magnitude better in every other way.

I can never go back to 2D.

I don’t use VR but my sim is 3D. I remember when we had 2D-cockpits, that’s not even that long ago. I hope you don’t fly those addons anymore? 😉

When you do use VR you'll understand why you always had 2D cockpits before that.

TBF I don't think its Laminars fault, XP12 perf with the very latest betas is about where it should be for a great experience, I think the issue is more now either something to do with their GPU compute fighting with the VR drivers video compression (could be running short of VRAM), or simply a bug in the VR drivers video compression.

XP11, in the quest 3, is truly phenomenal (everybody else in the VR chain has now mostly fixed their ####), XP12 would be even better if it didn't have weird stuff happening in the headset view (that you can't see on the desktop view of what it thinks it is showing in the headset).

I'm on an RTX3070 - best I could get at the time - can buy more a lot more GPU compute now, but probably going to wait until the next generation of cards, because the 5000 series isn't worth it:

Please dont start him.

The serious volumetric cloud visuals conaisseur will demand the freshest and newest X-Plane 12 served... 😉

For me the absolute winner in XP12 over xp11 and P3D is not graph but temperature correction for pressure altitude
