Regular stuttering

My stuttering is back!

Since re-installing XP12 I have gradually been re-introducing my plugins.  LiveTraffic, X-Camera and Headshake.  All ok to that point.  I then installed SkunkCrafts and the regular 25 second stuttering started every minute.  I removed Skunkworks but the stutter remains🤔😒😡

Tip, instead of a complete reinstall one can also run the installer against the current folder and let it repair whatever this skunkcraft has broken. Or remove the output and resources folders and let

  • The plugin-based updater is horribly out of date. This standalone version is actively maintained and runs outside of X-Plane: https://forums.x-plane.org/forums/topic/292710-20250206-skunkcrafts-update

Installed a second copy of XP12 - no plugins or anything added. Completely smooth, just a few small stutters.

You're a self-confessed tweaker, Mr Bitstflyer, and now you are seeing the usual results - as so many of us before you so painfully discovered.

An aircraft I installed from XPlane.org stated it is updated through SkunkCraft. Obviously I installed it to keep the aircraft up to date.  I later read a reply above that says the plugin is broken!

I am learning the way XP12 does things and the standard plugins and mods that are used. I think the plugins and scenery I have installed are pretty standard. I only have three - Live traffic, X-Camera and Headshake.

I'll have to remove XP12 again, not good.

The first thing we ask people when they ask for support...

"Do you have Skunkcraft updater installed?"

Even Laminar hate it.

Even after removing it the stuttering is there, that sure is broken.

You could try installing a vanilla copy of X-Plane, purely as a test version, with no scenery, and adding the add ons one at a time until you get the same problem.  When it happens, you'll know what it is.  I would suggest leaving skunkcraft updater until last, just to confirm it IS that which is causing you problems.

It is SkunkCrafts updater.  My first copy went wrong after installing it, but it threw me off when I uninstalled it but still had the stuttering.  Lovely and smooth with the second install, but immediate stuttering after installing it.

Glad I know know I don't need it - I thought it was required to update aircraft 😡

So it's overwriting some of XP's base files? There's no other way to continue nerfing sim performance after it's been uninstalled. What's it overwriting?

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

I don't know how to find that out. 🤔  I search for any 'skunk' file on the disk after removing it from the plugins folder, but the stuttering still there.

My third copy of XP12 is installing now, so SkunkCraft will go nowhere near it!

How long does a reinstall take and what are the steps? Do you backup all aircraft profiles? Can you please outline the steps? I have skunkcrafts installed.

I have been using default aircraft - MUCH better than the average MSFS default.  I am looking at the TorqueSim DA40 though.  The first two installs of XP12 were quite quick, but the one today is still going after five hours!  I will only be installing LiveTraffic, X-Camera and Headshake plugins.
