Scariest road in England.

Don't scrape those 1000 quid Porche wheels.

I'm suprised the authorities haven't compulsory purchased little patches of land for more passing points.

He seems to be exaggerating but I suspect the camera perspective made it look less steep than it was.

I follow the MacMaster EVERY night on YouTube.  He is unbelievably entertaining, and his information on EV's, fish & chips, and travel locations make me a real follower of his VLOGS.

Hard Knott pass? It’s steep, narrow and when the weather closes in you can have 10m visibility but postie drives over it every day.

It’s also not that busy. Nobody in their right mind drives out of the Lakes to visit Workington…

I wonder if they have considered closing it for all but essential vehicles and walkers.

I have not been over Wrynose or Hardknott Pass for a very long time, but then I don't get out much

😁 Not sure if it's pointless. Would be fantastic for walkers not to have to worry about cars that don't need to be there. Would encourage walking.

How many accidents have there ben down that stretch?

Eh? Encourage walkers? It’s the Lake District! There’s thousands of walkers all over the place. None of them are on roads…it’s the Lake District.

If we’re closing roads because of the accident rate then every bit of A road two lane blacktop in the UK needs to close. They’re the ones with the highest accident rate.

There’s no such thing as scary roads, the problem is scary drivers.

In the video they were walking on this road. He had to slow for them and let them pass.

More could be on this road, couldn't they? If it was closed to vehicles.

Didn't you say..... "It’s also not that busy. Nobody in their right mind drives out of the Lakes to visit Workington"

So if it's not very busy, so not that important for vehicles, why not make it a lovely picturesque walking route. Some of those views were spectacular.

Silly question; have you been to the Lake District?

Yes but they are required roads, required routes.

Regarding this road, you said... "It’s also not that busy. Nobody in their right mind drives out of the Lakes to visit Workington"

So it's not actually needed for vehicles.

How about developing picturesque walking routes rather than unneeded roads.

Why silly. If the road isn't required and only those "not in their right mind" choose it, why not use it for something better.

Doesn't matter how many other walking routes are in the area, if this is another potential route that's hardly used by cars, why not use it for a better purpose.

I have never been there, and I understand some people consider that road "dangerous", but it's really the kind of roads (and landscapes) I enjoy the most 🙂

I think in Switzerland, roads like this are subject to alternate way, based on time slots. Like, every hour the direction changes. This prevents encounters with opposite traffic. One of them is on my 'to-do' list, for one of my next road trips in that country 🙂

The question was ‘have you been to the Lake District’? I thought it might seem a silly question if you’d walked/climbed all over it in previous years…

Watched the complete video.
Conclusion; what a knob.

Rural UK is chock a block with single track roads with blind bends. All the huffing and puffing suggests he needs as many clicks, likes and subscriptions to keep up the payments on his hire-purchase Porsche.

There must be plenty of people in North America who are used to wide, straight roads who find this stuff astonishing but the reality for much of the rest of the world is very different.

Like many people these days the thought of actually having to reverse their vehicle seems to fill them with fear and loathing.

I must make a video of my journey to work one morning over Peak Hill or take the back road to the Hare and Hands.

Martin; you live on Guernsey. All the out of town roads are like this, no?
