Just do your research before buying product, there are tons of forum post or youtube videos reviewing these craft.

but at the end of the day, everyone has their favorite craft.  I would never recommend something that i did not approve myself.

That's a good point. I know they aren't bad unless they were told. It was viruses that my parents were concerned of. Though I do scan every file with an AV and even picked up ESET too... (better than Avast apparently and I can see why) and no issues.

This area is basically done, just to give you an idea, I need to add like two trees to this area. I've already set up the surrounding areas to get knocked out pretty quick. I'll probably work on it throughout the week.

Wow! That's looking good! Really nice!

Why does AVSIM hate swear words to the extent of what devoutly religious people consider swears? (Da word for e.g.)

It's a stupid thing to ask, but you know the barracks' ICAO code is EIAC do you?

No, but I can add it not problem. Currently had it as 0068.

Pathway to being finished, I am going to finish the river front buildings, finish detailing the barracks. I am not going to do anything beyond Connaught st. Then I am only going to do select buildings on the other side. I will for sure have it finished this week

Just thought I'd state that as part of the detail. Judging by the photos, it looks absolutely stunning and as long as the Barracks exists and SOME parts of Athlone as you mentioned, I'm fully happy. At least, no more using a camera at its 'location' to try and land where it would be covered by trees. 😄

So, generally perfect! Can't wait to see the finished design. If you have any other photos, please don't share them! At this point, I would like it to be a full surprise as to what it looks like.

One more thing, where will the file be put up or is it only exclusive to AVSIM?

Before I fly, I always go to the METAR-TAF and take the time to do accurate weather layers, conditions, dew point, visibility, winds. FSX is the perfect flight simulator for ease of flight. FSX is still very beautiful in its own polygonal way!

Actually, worth asking. I know the whole METAR-TAF thing, but the only thing is, where would I find what the winds AND gusts are at higher altitudes? I know Windy exists, but it doesn't do gusts for higher altitudes, so like... the wind would be faster at higher altitudes, but how would I know what the gusts are at like 1000ft, 3000ft?

Ill be honest i usually just extend wind to whatever flight level i am planning on flying

Also, i looked at Ireland and did not find many VOR stations at all. I dont even think Athlone has DME. I assume they are all GPS in their helos.

I'd imagine so, yeah.

Going to put this up again just in case it's missed, kind of an important question.

No, I post it to flightsim as well, but i will post to avsim. I am getting pretty close to getting all the city complete. Then just small details. Followed by one last landclass clean up.

Alright. Sounds good. Also it's a town. LOL

Here is me landing in 18 mph/26 gust headwind. I do not prefer to land from this direction/heading, as it is a little more dangerous due to the church, and the radio tower. But due to the headwind, I had no choice.

That is a very impressive scenery addon and, although I don't do much helicopter flying in the sim these days, I am tempted to dust off some of my cerasim choppers and try that landing! As I am from Ireland, it is one of the countries where I particularly like flying VFR and reliving some of my real world flying from my younger days when I had a pilot's licence. If anyone wants to do some VFR helicopter flying around Ireland I can recommend Daniel Florentin's Ireland Full VFR scenery which is available here in the Avsim library. This basically contains addon scenery for numerous iconic sites throughout Ireland beautifully modelled in Gmax to which helipads have been added (although many of the helipads are fictional for the benefit of the helicopter pilot).

I do have that same scenery, though I had to get rid of some of the sceneries it has because my flight sim was having FPS issues and lag problems despite having an RTX 2060.

Going to fight all urges to rush the project out, very close to being complete. Aiming for Saturday
