  • @tttocs Scott, Propair released a nice update that fixes the major issues!  FPS are vastly better, you can park under Sheltair finally, and FAA windsocks are included.  ATC is still calling themselves

  • Haven't got KBJC. I do have their KSGU and think it's quite good. I'm talking purely from a visual perspective - no idea about accuracy of markings, lights, and all the other stuff the more serious pi

Uh anywhere lol.

BJC is bizjet/GA heaven.  Planes would come from all over the place and go all over the place.  For shorter trips I'd try WYS, GPI, MYL, SLC, JAC, PVU etc if you want bizjet.  But I mean you could fly the C700 from New York City to BJC.  Bizjets fly all over the place into some of the smallest little airports.  That's why I dislike airliner flying... they always go into the same boring big airports.  Sometimes the smaller regional jets visit more uncontrolled airports.

Thinking more something like the aerostar. No more then 60 to 90 minutes flight.

Will check those out when  I get home

Course could use tge Citation to kjac or kpvu.

Been wanting to get those 2

For the Aerostar?  Man any place within the rockies is a great spot...  telluride, angel fire, pagosa springs, aspen, casper/yellowstone, jackson hole

Life is to short to fly into airports that are not pretty or  do not have great scenery or approaches.

Thats about 380 miles with an approach of some sort - you would have to simulate O2 usage if trying to follow rules and go IFR.  I think there's a few 16,000 minimum ifr altitudes over in that area.  But the Aerostar can make those altitudes without any real issues.  Probably about 2.5 hours at 190 ktas if you include startup and shutdown.  I'd say that's a very typical light twin flight time.

Otherwise something shorter but still scenic (for me that might mean there is a nice freeware or payware airport at both ends) you could try KPSO HBU POWDR1 KBJC.  You'd have to simulate O2 again and probably file 17k.  If you fly with GPS you could skip HBU and file something further up the STAR.  That's probably 100-120 minutes block to block?

That's why the Turbine Duke is my fav GA (other than Hjet) to fly either way through Denver.

Ah, most excellent!  Knew it was coming soon, but I've been off on a week long camping trip with family so I've been out of touch since last week.  Loved the appearance of the place, but it was by far my poorest performing airport and has been on my no-fly list since shortly after I purchased.  Looking forward to checking out the performance improvements, as well as taxiing up under the Sheltair canopy like the high-rollers.

How about as a stop in GA aircraft routes from Chicago, St Louis or Indianapolis to name a few, to the LA basin, San Diego area, or San Jose or San Fran areas?  Or the Pacific NW including Portland and Seattle?

HJet
Turbine Duke

and others.

KBJC is my most frequent stopover for those.

I have an earlier freeware KBJC via TO that I enjoy, and it does not have the performance hit of the BJC mentioned in this topic.  Yes. I see the iconic glorified "canopy" structure.  Just there are other attributes/aspects and performance to consider.

If you enjoy the freeware version, then fine, but... I had the freeware version as well and there is simply no comparison and I say that as someone who has flown from this airport many times IRL.  The freeware is certainly better than default, but still quite generic.  This version is a highly accurate rendition of the RW airport.  They absolutely nailed it and it's about way more than the canopy that we joke about.  Now performance issues appear to have been sorted as well.

Pls note - not trying to talk you into or out of anything.  Just offering a counterpoint for others reading.

Scott

It is visually well done. I have no idea about the real airport, but comments seem to say it is close to the real thing.

As far as performance problems, They seem to have been addressed.

I had no problem at all on my end.

OK. Thanks for the wakeup call.  I purchased through Orbx and never was notified of an update.  Updated a few minutes ago and will check it out.

There are a high number of interesting airfields close by, especially if flying turboprops or turbo normalized pistons.

the mountains and valleys provide stunning scenery to the North, West, and South

Leadville has a field elevation just shy of 10,000’ !!

Granby is about 15 mins to the west, situated just past a huge, picturesque lake.

Eagle is WNW, and despite being regularly serviced by 737s offers quite interesting Arrs and deps.

World class ski resorts mean there are a good handful of biz jet capable airfields in tight mountain terrain nearby. I forget which one, but you can even squeak a BBJ into Vail or Aspen (with a well qualified pilot!)

CO Springs and Pikes Peak (one of many “Forteeners”) is perhaps 25 mins to the south, along with the USAF Academy (and its own training airfield)

Heck, there are a string of Munis all the way up to .CA and down to .MX

BJC can even handle a 747, so really anywhere in any aircraft is in reach! 😁
